True Name

When a person is taken into a Sendōjō by a Master, they will receive a new religious name by the doctrine and philosophy of that sendojo. This True Name will be in the language of one of The Great Sage's 7 Holy Tongues, 7 languages spoken by Great Sages and deemed to hold significance along the path of the sainted.

2. Holy Tongue Kpar̀: The War Tongue 
3. Holy Tongue Ngaafaa: The Order Tongue 
4. Holy Tongue Pakmes: The Merciful Tongue 
5. Holy Tongue Tawkmus: The Truth Tongue 
6. Holy Tongue Tyitwo: The Historic Tongue 
7. Holy Tongue Zhukhote: The Faith Tongue

Each Sendojo will have its Guiding Poem incorporating ideas of righteousness, war, order, mercy, truth, history, and faith. Each line of the poem will be associated with the current Epoch on a rotating basis based on that Class of new students. New students who join during that year will receive a name in the language of that year associated with the line in the poem. If Jon Doe joins a Sendojo that happens to be on its Truth Line, he will receive a name in the Tawkmus language. Likewise, if Jane Doe joins the following year and this sendojo's next line is the faith line, she will receive a name in the Zhukhote language.

• If Jon Doe was known to be courageous and cunning by nature, he might receive the True Name Kuia Moshawl meaning kui-a (wise-HAVING.QUALITY.OF ) & mosh-awl (strong-ACT.OF).
• If Jane Doe was a person who was bound to her emotions which led her to make mistakes, she might have received the True Name Korenanisi Wiimawghu meaning kore-nanisi (anger-PLACE.OF ) & wii-mawghu (sin-RESULT.OF.DOING).

True Name Prefix and Epithets

If a Sendojo is part of a Noble House, True Names will always be prefixed with the House Name. Additionally, the True Name of a student's Master will be added to the end of their True Name. Masters who have many students will receive a Roman numeral at the end of their True Name counting all of their Students who have become Masters and taken on students of their own.

• If Jon Doe's sendojo was under the authority of the House of Bal and he was trained by Lujachase Biibaw Tso, his final True Name would be Bal-Kuia Moshawl, Lujachase Biibaw Tso.
• If Jane Doe's sendojo was under the authority of the House of Gyn, she was trained by Fe Hungopori Laha and she trained Utset, her final True Name would be Gyn-Korenanisi Wiimawghu, Fe Hungopori Laha I.

Cultural Significance

Students of a sendojo will be known internally by their True Name while still using their given name externally. They are expected to greet fellow students of the same sendojo with their True Names as well, and each sendojo will have its unique form of greeting involving a True Name. These greetings can be further repurposed for security checks outside of the sendojo, where if a supposed fellow student cannot respond with their True Name in the sendojo's unique formal greeting, an imposter can be rooted out.

Example True Name Expressions

When outside the sendojo, a mage might come across someone they might think is a fellow of their sendojo and will initiate a verbal test via the expression unique to their sendojo to determine if this person is their fellow and if they have not forgotten their teachings. Successfully passing an expression from a fellow will make a new friend on an otherwise strange planet or open opportunities that were previously closed. All disciplined and true fellows of a sendojo are encouraged to aid each other if they happen upon each other.

• Q: Ah, I see, and tell me TRUE NAME, who has sent you here on this day?
• A: Master's TRUE NAME
