The Ashvanian Republic
The Ashvanian Republic is a faction that is a ruled as a constitutional democratic republic with an emperor or empress. The Ashvanian Republic value law, order, and fairness above all else. The Ashvanian Republic are also primarily researchers, scientists, and scholars. This faction's main goal is to discover and unveil the secrets of the unverse and of the known and uncharted areas of the galaxy.
The Ashvanian Republic is ruled by a collection of senators, representatives, and a court of Justices as well as having an emperor or empress. The emperor simply controls the military and the executive areas within the Ashvanian Republic. The emperor, while having final say in regards to matters of war and military or executive uses, as well as declarations of war and punishments for crimes such as terrorism and traitors, must still abide by the laws within the TGR and cannot break them or change them.
The Emperor/Empress of the Ashvanian Republic carry the title of, the Wise One.
The Empress who rules at this time is, Amelia Ashvania, first of her name. The Emperor/Empress maintains this role for life, until they choose to retire, they die, or if they lose power through the powers of the Galactic Congress and the Galactic Court.
The Ashvanian Republic is extremely just an overall fair in terms of laws and freedom. Aside from the The United Mercenary Coalition, the Ashvanian Republic is the most free place to live with regard to what you are allowed to do and/or say. You have the freedom to say whatever you want and do whatever you want as long as you are not harming or coercing another person within the Ashvanian Republic. There are laws however and those laws, unlike within the The United Mercenary Coalition, are always enforced and maintained. You will be tried, judged, and sentenced for a crime you commit within the Ashvanian Republic.
The Ashvanian Republic overall though is a place of knowledge, trade, and freedom. Some, from all factions, have even considered it to be a "Utopia Amongst The Stars." However, although it may seem perfect, even the Ashvanian Republic has aspects that are not perfect or considered "good." One being that there is indeed an emperor and an aristocracy in some form due to the Wise Noble/Royal titles. Although this can be overlooked by many as the freedoms experienced within this society are great, some hate this aspect of the Ashvanian Republic and wish aristocracies were not within the Ashvanian Republic or anywhere for that matter.
Another aspect of the Ashvanian Republic that some hate is how intelligence is valued, as some would say, too highly. The gap between the intelligent and the average can be seen easily, those that are intelligent are looked upon highly and are envied and those that are less intelligent or are unable to perform well in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) field are considered by many intellectuals to be dead weight. These unfortunate ones are not very prevalent within the Ashvanian Republic as many turn to the The United Mercenary Coalition in order to find work or fullfillment, but there are a few that still live within the Ashvanian Republic and are definitely discriminated against.
There is a bright side however, the Ashvanian Republic does allow the poor to be fed and gives them a liveable wage as long as they work for the governmental body of the Ashvanian Republic in some manner, be that the police, trash disposal, or otherwise. The society as a whole functions in a governmental way, businesses and things of that nature do not really exist in a private way witihn the Ashvanian Republic. You work for the government and based on how you perform in your field of study within the STEAM fields, is how accomplished and wealthy you will become. Food, transport, and other types of business undertakings are all taken care of governmentally which some dislike as most of the businesses often feel the same and their is no uniqueness.
Having the government manage all the types of business undertakings that a private sector would usually take care of is possibly one of the reasons why the Ashvanian Republic are the smallest of all the factions as they are sometimes considered to even be the poorest of all the factions, but that is if you consider the The United Mercenary Coalition to be poor or not, as they are more of a less centralized government and some parts are poor while others are wealthy.
Although the TGR is poor overall, the people do not live in poverty, even the least accomplished citizens of the Ashvanian Republic are taken care of on a basic human needs level by the Ashvanian Republic, however, they are nowhere near as wealthy or well off as an accomplished scientist for example which is why there are many poor citizens who choose to leave or be part of the executive section of the Ashvanian Republic. The leaving of these citizens however, has created an entire faction of some of the most intelligent, artistic, and distinguished people of the galaxy. Being born within the Ashvanian Republic also gives you the most opportunity to prosper and learn about the known galaxy as well as the Uncharted Sector of the galaxy. Many people from other factions or the Scavenger Faction immigrate into the Ashvanian Republic as well seeking knowledge and education from the most prominant and successful universities of the galaxy. If you are a citizen of the TGR, tuition is completely free, however, if you wish to gain tuition and you are not a citizen, you will be required to pay, and it is extremely expensive.
The Ashvanian Republic are also the weakest in terms of military than any other faction as they seek to further knowledge more than attain power or extend their borders. They also do not have as many resources or wealth as the The Slaver's Federation for instance to purchase as many Mercs if needed.
Overall, the Ashvanian Republic is a place of knowledge, learning, art, and intrigue. It is the faction that has discovered the most about the anomalies of the Uncharted Sector as well as uncovering many secrets of the universe and of technology as whole. Many claims of technological advancements from the other factions can even many times be traced back to the Ashvanian Republic rather it be because it was a citizen of the Ashvanian Republic or someone who graduated from a university of the Ashvanian Republic.
With regard to the Ashvanian Republic's relations to the other factions, they are most allied with the Holy Ambrion Empire as both seem to share a want to learn new technological advancements, even if it is for different reasons. The Holy Ambrion Empire also seems to be willing to help fund some of the Ashvanian Republic's endeavors and scientific research. They also both have a single ruler of sorts and nobility, although the powers that are given to each ruler is vastly different, it is similar and they have that in common since the Ashvanian Republic has an emperor/empress and the Holy Ambrion Empire has a King/Queen.
With regard to the The United Mercenary Coalition, they are also on fairly good terms as the Ashvanian Republic generally will use mercs purchased from the The United Mercenary Coalition in order to travel safely for trade, research, or otherwise. The The United Mercenary Coalition also sells out to the Ashvanian Republic mainly as they are a fully centralized government at the core and as such can purchase many many mercs at a single time for extended periods of time for various reasons. These reasons are usually protection as the Ashvanian Republic definitely has the weakest fighting force of all the other factions.
With regard to the The Slaver's Federation, they are not on good terms with them in regard to slavery being a big moral dilemna for the Ashvanian Republic as well as the other factions. However, with the The Slaver's Federation being the wealthiest of all the factions, they trade with them frequently in order to gain resources or wealth for research and anything else they might need at the time. Overall, it is a friendly relationship as the Ashvanian Republic simply do not have the power to free the slaves, nor do they have desire to as they are in good relations since they gain more resources and money from the The Slaver's Federation than any other faction.
Structure
The Emperor/Empress is someone who is born into that role as the first son or daughter of the current emperor, and becomes the new Emperor/Empress after the current Emperor/Empress dies or retires.
The new Emperor/Empress that is chosen by the current Emperor/Empress must be at least of age 13 or greater. If the chosen successor is not of age at the time of death or retirement of the current Emperor/Empress then refer to the conditions below for voting on a new Emperor/Empress. However, once the chosen successor or child reaches the age of 13, they will become the new Emperor/Empress of the Holy Ambrion Empire. If they die or choose not to become the new Emperor/Empress, then the current one who was voted in will remain.
Another way someone can become the Emperor/Empress is through the Galactic Constitution which states that an Emperor/Empress may choose a successor who is not one of their children, or if the Emperor/Empress loses power by the powers of the Galactic Congress and Galactic Court, then the Galactic Congress will vote to determine two potential candidates to become the new Emperor/Empress (those two being the two people who recieved the highest amount of votes) and then the Galactic Court members will vote on the two candidates and whoever has the majority will become the new Ashvanian Republic's Emperor/Empress.
Only relatives of the previous Emperor/Empress may be chosen in this voting process and 5 must be chosen in order of oldest child to youngest child of the previous Emperor/Empress and then to cousins from oldest to youngest cousin and then to second cousins and so on. If there are no relatives in this order alive or willing, then the candidates may be chosen from oldest to youngest siblings of the previous Emperor/Empress. If no siblings are alive or wiling, then the parents of the previous Emperor/Empress will be candidates going in order from the one who was Emperor/Empress last to the one that was the spouse of the last Emperor/Empress (assuming that the Emperor/Empress is willing and was not previously also removed from power by the Galactic Congress and Galactic Court).
If none of this is possible due to all of these family members being dead or unknown of their werabouts, then the Galactic Congress will vote to find the two candidates using the Galactic Court members then the remaining Galactic Court members will vote on the two now candidates to determine the new Emperor/Empress.
Once that court member becomes Emperor/Empress, they will be allowed to choose their replacement on the Galactic Court from anyone they choose and who are willing. Assuming there is ever a tie in regard to the amount of votes when the Galactic Congress votes which creates a greater than two person tie in the amount of votes (as in three or more people having a tie in votes) then the three or more of them will vote themselves to determine which one should not be considered a candidate. If there is a tie in this case, then the Galactic Congress will vote to determine the two that will be considered candidates, if a tie still persists, then, unfortunately, the two candidates will be chosen randomly and then be voted on by the remaining Galactic Court.
