North Star - Region

Geography

On the northern edge of the sub-continent Teran lies the North Star. Completely surrounded by water on its northern, eastern and western side while being separated by the mighty river Zara'sh Hal in the south from the great desert Ignis Aeterna, it is considered a peninsula while some scholars even suspected it being a part of an entirely different continent that drifted into Teran.
North Star is considered the furthermost northern region of Sanctum's main-continent. Tectonically the jungle island to the north of it would be the northernmost but it is not considered part of the continent due to its small size and inhability. Most scholars see the tropical island as a part of the North Star.
The region mainly consists of plains and two relatively small forest areas in the east and west. There is a small mountain inside the eastern jungle and various rifts leading from the canyon of Zara'sh Hal. On the north coast is a beautiful sand beach while the eastern and western coast are mainly stone cliffs and can be deadly to careless wanderers. Near the centre of Zara'sh Hal is a small natural bridge supported by artificial dwarven structures connecting the North Star to Ignis Aeterna.

Civilization records

Two old buildings that are held in a human architectural style indicate that there was a human settlement here before while the land bridge shows signs of dwarven technology. Inside the mountain are also traces of an abandoned dwarven research station. The western forest shows signs of deforestation although all old buildings are mainly built from stone and steel. As there are no remnants of quarries or steel factories, the manor and the church must be a form of colony from a nation with capabilities of transporting stone through a massive desert.
Now there is a new small settlement called Krucifax that is directly built at the land bridge as an attempt to colonize this region for Trakaris. It is mainly inhabitated by normal Humans and a few Desert Orc slaves. Currently it is in development near the old wizardtower and already has big agricultural areas.
