The supernatural and their faithful of Vanareon. The most systematic study of the deities of Vanareon is that undertaken at the College of Mages at Selemlis, whose scholars are free to speculate, debate and classify deities without threats from local churches and cults. Elsewhere in Vanareon, advancing some of the theories in these pages may result in a lynching, or being burnt at the stake in the worst cases. Especial care should be taken in the Theocracy of Chalke, where questioning the status of The One can raidly result in severe punishment.
Theologians rank supernatural powers into up to five ranks:
The Demiurge, that initiated creation. Some theologians though question the existance of the Demiurge. The True Giants insist though that it was the Demiurge who created them to shape and build The Materium, and he is the only deity that they worship.
The Lords of Creation, who are the impersonal forces that drive and underlie creation.
The Gods, beings native to The Materium of immense power, but whose continued existance requires worship and belief. While they are worshipped and believed in though, they are effectively immortal.
The Demigods, beings of immense but not divine power, in that they have not yet reached the level of ritual worship and belief that they could survive their own death. Some Dragons are demigods, like the Azure Empress, who are the focus of an imperial cult, but are not globally worshipped.
