Dragons
Dragons are the architects of material reality, and they are the most material of all creatures. Whereas Faerie are almost entirely spirit, with very little materiality, only enough to make the real, dragons are the opposite - they are almost pure materiality, with only enough spirit to make them animate at all. And that touch of spirit, because it needs to contain all of the their personality, is almost pure ego.
One result of this is that dragons are very possessive - their materiality means that their existence is intrinsically linked to their possession of material. So a dragon's hoard isn't an optional extra - it is essential to the health of the dragon. A dragon without a hoard will gradually lose their material existence, and dragons cannot not have a material existence, as they have nothing else to fall back on.
Their materiality also makes dragons potent manipulators of reality - their magical ability to impose themselves on reality is unsurpassed by any other caster.
