Personal history
Saffron's parents were traders and adventurers from Dergun (Portsmouth). She travelled with them from the young age, and often spend the dry season in the Eastern Islands. One year like this she had an affair with a Zeribian man (at least if the rumors are to be believed), and ended up preagnant. Her marriage was arranged with Valin of Silford , and her firstborn Lory was born in the new husband's family home in Fares (Silford). Later the new family established their residence in Dergun (Portsmouth) near the maternal grandparents. However, they continued to spend most of their year travelling after business. Lory's younger siblings, the twins Léte and Gadin were born eight years after him.
Employment
Saffron is a trader, but also responsible for illegal smuggling of various goods between the Zeribian controlled Eastern Islands, the Republic of Free West Island and the mainland cities such as Fares (Silford). She has good connections on the Islands because she is widely travelled, and is even able to speak Zeribian. Her family knows the byrocracy of the Republic, while his husband's family handle the business back in the mainland.

Family Ties
She and Valin treat their marriage more like close friendship and a business agreement, than romance. It is a quite widely known secret, that Valin is not Lory's father. Both have also continued to have extramarital affairs (which, in the Faren culture is not very uncommon). Saffron herself is known to attract attention from both men and women.
As a parent Saffron is loving but a bit careless. The children have learned to follow after the parents that have a lot going on.
