Deep crawler nectar
Deep crawler nectar is a sweet secretion, produced by the Deep crawlers, large insects, that live in the tunnels of the Stone Giants.
Ulalte the Lord of the Underworld once drank a bottle of the nectar brough to him by Hero Ásinnar, and it brought him uncontrollable powers. He burst into a great flood of rage, that flushed the stone giants out of Bonehold. (The full story is told in Ásinnar's Journey to the Underworld).
Usage
The nectar is gathered by the Stone Giants from the deep crawler workers and left to ferment in containers. The sugar of the nectar then produces a strong alchoholic drink, that is consumed by the giants in great feasts. Only the stone giants are known to herd deep crawlers or produce alcohol, but the forest giants are known to be greedy for alcoholic beverages too, if they can get them from humans.Description
The beverage has a strong earthy taste and a brown colour, but that is unknown if it comes from the nectar itself, or the crude stone containers that the giants use.Effect on the giants
The giants get drunk on the nectar, much like the humans do with wine or beer.Effect on the other species
The nectar seems to have unexpected affects on other species. The nectar is too strong for the humans, and they have a hard time holding it in and they quickly pass out.Ulalte the Lord of the Underworld once drank a bottle of the nectar brough to him by Hero Ásinnar, and it brought him uncontrollable powers. He burst into a great flood of rage, that flushed the stone giants out of Bonehold. (The full story is told in Ásinnar's Journey to the Underworld).
