Scarred Dragonborn

The scarred dragonborn are an ethnicity of dragonborn artificially, and accidentally, created through magic. During the Age of Contact the Elventine Empire enacted the Dracoplague, a magical ritual intended to destroy all dragons, the ritual failed in this effort and had a number of unintended effects; pertinently for the dragonborn, a large number of the race suffered physical disfiguration, the loss of their tails, thicker scales, and a larger build, initially a significant portion of the scarred dragonborn were also rendered infertile, causing many to fear that these scarred dragonborn would become extinct during the Age of Contact, though their fertility has long since stabilised.

Physical Description

Scarred dragonborn appear not too dissimilar to true dragonborn, retaining the singular colouration of at least one of their ancestors. The scarred are however larger and heavier than either the true or prismatic dragonborn, standing on average between 6'4"– 7" (1.9–2.1 meters) and weigh anywhere between 240-340 lbs (109–154 kg). The scales of scarred dragonborn are also noticeably thicker than that of either true or prismatic dragonborn. The most notable trait of the scarred dragonborn is the lack of a tail. The colouration of scarred dragonborn resembles that of true dragonborn, black, blue, brass, bronze, copper, gold, green, red, silver, and white, however, unlike true dragonborn mating between scarred dragonborn does not result in a change to the colour of their offspring's scales, instead they are the colour of one or the other parents' colouration.

Homelands

The scarred dragonborn face rampant discrimination within the Infernal-Draconic Ascendancy, and are seen as racially inferior and an insult to their draconic heritage; however, the Ascendancy is still where the majority of the scarred make their homes. Increasingly the scarred have found positive homes within the Kasari Dominion and Free States. The scarred are also present within the Velgan Empire, southern Thaxnoria, and the Yhess Kingdoms, the former where they are valued as slaves.
