Ovolyn (Ove-oh-lin)

Structure

Ovolyn is run by the High Council, made up of twelve councils and a head councillor appointed bi-yearly by the council. The Council is in charge of all decisions within the province, but usually recides in the Capital City, Vose. Each councillor is in charge of one section of governance, such as economy (usually taken by the head councillor), military, religion, medicine, welfare etc. They each have a team beneath them to undertake goals within their assigned jurisdiction.

Culture

Ovolyn has calm laws and even calmer law enforcement. Lawlessness is rampant at the upper ends of society, however, is frowned upon in the lower classes deign to participate. There is a strong technological current in Ovolyn, especially in its major cities, and they are often competing to be the front-runners in technological advancements. There is major wealth inequality within Ovolysh cities and between the city and the country. Country workers are not valued highly in Ovolysh culture. The Ovolysh present themselves as hardworkers and merocratic - they have a toxic positivity work culture.

Public Agenda

Technology is the number one goal of the Ovolysh government. The first promise is always the economic prosperity and technologically innovations they can provide for their citizens. Ovolyn hosts a large, advanced military which promises to keep its citizens safe. The wealth inequality is rarely addressed by the government of Ovolyn.

History

Ovolyn was first the state of an elvish group which rapidly tried to expand their own and the province's prospects. It was officially labelled a province after the Long War between Ovolyn and it's neighbouring states in 671 EP. The elvish hegemony over Ovolyn ended in 860 EP following an uprising of humans and dwalves.

Military

Ovolyn has a strong military force, called the United Forces of Ovolyn. The defense of the nation is currently under the control of Military Services councillor, Tybalt O' Keefe.

Technological Level

Ovolyn is a forerunner in the automobile industry, and has large stakes in information and manufacturing.

Religion

All religious matters are overseen by Religious Services councillor, Evelynne Bexley. The current official state religion is the Gathering of Araoni, which accounts for 54% of the population. The Confederation of Atonement is a newly emerging religion which is permitted within Ovolyn, and has seen a fair few conversions within the upper classes of Ovolyn recently. It accounts for approx. 9% of the population. Older religions have been outright banned by the state. Such religions account for 32% of the population, still.

Foreign Relations

Ovolyn aims to keep peaceful relations with all of its neighbours. However, tensions with Prosea have always been tense.

Laws

The mismanagement of magic is a criminal offence in Ovolyn. Following a series of incidents in which no-magic users suffered greatly at the hands of magic users, prohibitations on the use of maigc have been enforced across the country. Magic use has been restricted to only matters of great importance, and magic lisences must be applied for in cases either before or after the use of magic is necessitated.

Agriculture & Industry

Ovolyn is an industrial power. It relies on mines in the Iron Valley, of which it owns many, to power the factories, refineries, and plants within the province. Agricultural matters are of lesser importance to Ovolyn. Some agricultural plants still exist in the countryside, however, the majority of Ovolysh grain and produce is now imported from Brelind.

Education

Ovolyn emphasises practical, hands on study over university or higher education, unlike it's neighbour, Prosea.
