Brelind (Bray-lind)
Structure
Brelind is run by the League of Unity, which is formed by elected representatives from all of the Brelish states. The League is headed by the governor, a position currently held by Sem Kulen. Decisions made by the League always aim to reflect the will of the populus, both in city and country.
There are no requirements for running as representative, as long as each state has at least one representative, and all economic classes, racial groups, genders, and marginal groups are represented in the League.
Culture
Brelind is first and foremost an agricultural province. The majority of the population live in the country, and cities are small and far between. Due to the highly fertile land and booming agricultural technology, Brelind has the largest exports of grain, produce, and cattle of all of the provinces. Thus, much of the province is structured around this duty. The Brelish have different senses of the calendar to the other provinces, and work solely off of the agricultural seasons rather than the Gathering cycle.
Brelind also have prosperous naval trade, providing many jobs for those living on the coasts. Due to the demand for their agricultural exports, trading and shipping is a large industry in Brelind. Overall, Brelind's structure is rather decentralised, and it's governance reflects this nature.
The Brelish also have a tight sense of community due to their shared goals, however, this makes the province less hospitable to strangers and travellers, due to the tightknit nature of the community.
Public Agenda
History
The first human settlers came to Brelind in 587 EP from faraway lands, looking for new habitable lands. Brelind was chosen due to its fertility. Few interactions between the settled humans and the Prosean elves occurred, however, relations were passive at most times. Some humans decided emigrated into Ovolyn with the elves, however, many also stayed in Brelind.
A major renovation in the structure of Brelind came in 796 EP due to a revolt in the west side of the country following from dire working conditions in the mountainous regions. The riots caused major disruptions in the entire process of Brelish economy, and was soon followed by revolts all across the province in support of the western workers. A representative government was put into place due to these revolts, known as the Marlworth Revolt.
Religion
The majority of the Brelish population adhere to the tenants of the Gathering of Araoni, however, local religions are pervasive and widespread. Such unorthodox beliefs are accepted by local clergy in Brelind.
Small pockets of the Confederation of Atonement worshippers are beginning to appear on the Ovolysh borders, although currently small in number.
