An expedition led by famed scholar Aberran of Tatharia began despite difficulties with locals. A Dragonborn, a Tiefling, a Genasi, a fey-touched Human, a Jiao monk and a swashbuckling Tabaxi agreed to support the Sage on his journey. In the end, Aberran was kidnapped by Alexandr, Zidon, and Inanna. Ultimately, the method for sealing magic was both discovered and tampered with. With that, the magic began to creep into Rolara.

At the behest of a grieving Thundering Baboon, Radiant Feathers sought out the nearby Five Dragon Cave to find the Scroll of Inner Alchemy. There he was attacked by Bak Mei, a wicked elderly monk. He was saved by Quick Bong, his Longma steed. Dulcimer "Doll" was activated. Before they could recover, Bak Mei fled and Radiant Feathers' mentor decided to test him with a horde of ambush drakes.
