Xi the Great Character in Rolara | World Anvil

Xi the Great

Xi the Great, the Master of All Waters, was a visionary leader whose legend is woven into the very fabric of Jiaohai. Born into a world on the brink of destruction, Xi was a beacon of hope for the Jiao people. As the waters rose and threatened to engulf their world, Xi's unyielding spirit and indomitable will shone through the darkness.   His wisdom was as deep as the oceans that threatened his people, and his courage as towering as the waterfall upon which Jiaohai now stands. He led his people through the tumultuous times, guiding them to higher ground, and in doing so, laid the foundations for the grand city of Jiaohai.   Xi's legacy is not only in the stone and mortar of the city he founded but also in the hearts of the Jiao people. His story is a testament to the resilience of the Human spirit, a tale of triumph over adversity that continues to inspire generations. His name, Xi the Great, is spoken with reverence, a symbol of strength, wisdom, and perseverance.   Even today, as the waters of the waterfall cascade down the city of Jiaohai, they echo the tale of Xi the Great, the Master of All Waters, the savior of the Jiao people, and the founder of a city that stands as a testament to his greatness.

Personal history

In the shadowed epoch following the Extinguishment of the Stars of Power, a child of destiny was born. This was Xi the Great, birthed into a world where the once resplendent Magic had dwindled to a mere flicker. The Stars of Power, seven Celestial bodies each embodying a distinct school of magic, had been sealed, marking the end of the Age of Wonder.   In this bygone era, Rolara had been a realm of marvels, where magic suffused every aspect of life, bestowing upon all sentient beings extended lifespans and freedom from maladies. The Stars of Power, the heart of our civilization, had been our guiding lights. Yet, with their sealing, magic waned and our once-great civilizations crumbled into dust.   Xi the Great, born into this era of decline, was a beacon of hope. He was raised on tales of the Age of Wonder, of the Stars of Power, and the grandeur of the civilizations that once were. These stories kindled within him a flame of ambition, a yearning to restore Rolara to its former glory.   As he matured, Xi embarked on a quest to unravel the mysteries of the Stars of Power. His journey led him to the grand city of Jiaohai, perched atop a magnificent waterfall. Here, he laid the foundation of a new civilization, one that harnessed the power of the waterfall to compensate for the loss of magic.   Under the wise and just rule of Xi, Jiaohai blossomed. The city became a beacon of hope in a world still mourning the loss of the Stars of Power. His reign heralded a new era of prosperity and progress, a testament to his vision and indomitable spirit.

Accomplishments & Achievements

One of the most significant moments in Xi's life was when a Fuzhu appeared before him. This event was considered an auspicious omen, a sign of divine favor. The Fuzhu, known to appear during floods, symbolized resilience and adaptability. Its appearance was seen as a sign that Xi's efforts to save his people were blessed by the divine.   Under Xi's leadership, the Jiao people learned to live in harmony with the water. He taught them how to build homes that could withstand the floods, how to find food in the waterlogged landscape, and how to navigate the new world that was emerging from the waters.   Xi's greatest accomplishment, however, was the founding of Jiaohai. He envisioned a city that could harness the power of the water, a city that could stand strong amidst the floods. Under his guidance, Jiaohai was built atop a magnificent waterfall. It became a symbol of the Jiao people's resilience and a testament to Xi's visionary leadership.   Yet, the tale of Xi concludes in enigma. Over 1400 years past, he vanished without a trace. Despite exhaustive searches and investigations, no evidence of his fate was ever unearthed. He was presumed to have joined the ancestors, yet his legacy endured. The city of Jiaohai continued to thrive, a lasting monument to the vision and leadership of Xi the Great.
