Prince of Ravens

The Prince of Ravens, De'Korvë Alakra Cilanennë in Tretalleri, is one of the most important and influential figures in the tretalleri Dominion. Together with the Prince of Lances and the Pale Imperator, he forms the Imperial Trinity that serves as the absolute seat of executive, judicial, and legislative power in the empire.   As patron of the The Grand Rookery, the Prince of Ravens is responsible for the oversight of the Dominion's scientific, philosophical, and theological endeavors. Although he is not necessarily a member of the clergy, his station makes him privy to most all matters of the Faith. Furthermore, it is customary for the Prince of Ravens to publish at least one volume of his reflections on scripture and the teachings of the Faith—and how these things relate to contemporary matters—during his tenure.   The Prince of Ravens is also expected to keep abreast of advancements in scientific inquiry and technological development. All research conducted in the Dominion crosses the doorstep of his office at least once during its lifetime. As the volume of research has increased to match proportionate increases in the quality of public education and the expansion of the Dominion's holdings, the Prince of Ravens cannot himself evaluate all papers that come his way. To this end, he employs a team of trusted helpers who are in charge of filtering out the spurious, frivolous, and nonsensical papers that makes their way to his office.   Some of the Prince's little ravens (korvîttë in Tretalleri) perform double duty and serve as the Dominion's highest-ranking intelligent officials. A vast network of agents, informants, spies, and undercover operatives reaches its long arm from the Grand Rookery to touch even the most remote corners of the empire—and even beyond—and at its heart is the Prince of Ravens and his korvîttë. Besides the staggering amount of research that crosses the Prince's threshold every day, a stream of intelligence many times as dense and detailed is processed through his office and either sent to relevant parties or filed away for use at a later time.
