Queen Zinnia Phea Polaris (a.k.a. Cyralia)

Daughter of King Leon Polaris V and Queen Clophea Immie-Polaris. First Queen born within Kingdom of Atla. Led the kingdom into a new age after the death of her father, who was a special race of beings known as Forebearers.

History

Birth/Controversy

Although the signing of the Treaty of Krisie had been signed by both parties, the document didn't take effect until Leon's and Clophea's first child was born, and was a daughter. With first born daughters being a sign of good luck for the Daynes, the Dayarin Empire demanded this be added to ensure that good fortune would be brought to the new Kingdom of Atla.

Zinnia was the two's first born child, however, there were some controversies dealing with her birth. With Zinnia not possessing the usual dominant Atlan traits, this being white hair and pale skin, instead being born with Annie features, brown hair and tanned skin, this caused controversy as the Dayarin Empire believed that Zinnia was not a child of Leon and Clophea and did not uphold the treaty. Zinnia did possess bright blue eyes, which was a trait of Atlans, but this was not enough, as only when she showed signs of having a Polaris' powers would the Dayarin Empire official agree to the terms of the treaty.

This period, known as the "phony war", the Dayarin Empire and Polaris Kingdom were still at war with one another, with little battles happening on the rural borders of the two nations but nothing more. With Zinnia's second birthday however, in the year 19 OK, she showed her first sign of her powers. With her cheeks glowing a crackling a bright blue as a tiny piece of shard of Lilite fell from the wall of the castle. This was the proof needed to finally unite the two nations as the Kingdom of Atla was officially formed on the 7th of Briza, 19 OK.

Childhood/Polaris Blush

After the creation of the Kingdom of Atla, and the formation of the seven districts, many small rebellions broke out, mostly within the capital Anniy District. Due to this fact, the new young king and queen of Atla went out on many diplomatic meetings, and sometimes battles, to quell these rebellions. Because of this, for most of Zinnia's childhood she was stuck within the confines of her castle, only being able to read books and wishing she could she the kingdom she would one day have to rule.

When the king and queen had finally quelled the first wave of rebellions they were able to return to the capital on a more regular basis and raise Zinnia more directly, with Leon teaching his daughter how to control her powers, though in a much different way than himself. Due to Zinnia being half Forebearer and half Rhydan, her frail Rhydan body could not contain the Forebearer powers that she got from her father, with her skin cracking and glowing a bright blue whenever she tried to use her  Heaven's Glaze. Although Leon, being a Forebearer, didn't have this issue with regards to his Heaven's Glaze, he still worked with his daughter to help her control and contain her powers. Often skipping many diplomatic meetings, leaving Clophea to go alone, to stay with Zinnia because she was having an "episode" where she would touch Lilite and her powers would grow out of control.

Zinnia trained to get her powers under control, eventually being able to use an amount of power she felt confident controlling. Although, this was only a fraction of her potential power, with the most she could control only crystallizing as a "blush" on her cheeks.

Teenage years/Second rebellion wave

When Zinnia turned 16, and officially became the Duchess of Brida, becoming the official heir to the throne, a second wave of rebellions exploded around the kingdom as the, now much older, Leon and Clophea adorned their armor once again to fight off these much more violent rebellions. Zinnia, very much like during her early childhood, was forced to stay within the borders of the castle. Feeling trapped, Zinnia began feeling restless as she felt she could help her mother and father. Zinnia snuck her way into the Crystal Library in the castle and began training and researching ancient Forebearer techniques, such as the Avelon fighting style, or an acrobatic style that uses Lilite to help move and attack. Zinnia trained self trained in the Avelon style, controlling Lilite in pouches rather than creating it as to not overuse her powers. She was able to quickly learn this fighting style due to her dedication, and also her half Forebearer ancestry giving her a physical edge.

With Zinnia's diplomatic power as the new Duchess of Brida, she was able to get Brida forces to take her out of Almne and to Brida where she had heard about rebellion outbreaks that had been happening in the city. And, seeing how great of warriors her parents were and believing that to be the role of a ruler, she head out to stop these outbreaks on her own, by force.

Infamy/Ryan Oleander

Upon arriving in Brida, and having authority over the Brida troops, she commanded them to round up anyone who dare speak out against her and her parents. With the Brida forces following her command they took people by force, rounded them up, and brought them directly to Zinnia. Not being an experienced leader or taught otherwise, she believed ruthlessness was the way to rule, seeing it from her parents. She began having people in Brida killed in mass, and in public, who were thought to be working for the rebellion and speaking out against Atlan rule. In this single month, known as the Lora Ziza or "Blood Month", over 10,000 people were killed by Zinnia's forces. Feared by the people of Brida, she began going by the name of Sirora, or the "Red Crystal", with word even reaching other city within the kingdom about the viciousness of their future queen. And though the rebellions had seemed to be stomped in Brida, giving Zinnia a confidence in her ruling, even worse riots began to happen, specifically in Atlan built cities like AnnonRose and Tatiana. Though the King and Queen had heard of the news about their daughter, they had to stay in the west because of the new riots she had created.

Though she went by the name Sirora, much to her disliking, the Daynes from the west gave her a different nickname. Calling her Cyralia, or the "Crystal Queen", as a sarcastic take on her other nickname she disliked. She took a liking to this nickname and actually went by this name for a while longer during the rest of her reign of Brida.
With her aggressive rule over Brida continuing, Zinnia called upon the  Lilyns from Almne to patrol the streets of Brida at nights. On occasion Zinnia would go out with her Lilyns and personally round up protesters and people, especially Daynes, having a disliking for her mother's people, occasionally killing them herself in front of masses of people. While patrolling the streets and her cells personally with her Lilyn forces she had taken a strange liking to one of her prisoners, a small town Dayne called Ryan Oleander. Actually finding him amusing she made him her personal escort, forcing him to accompany her as she arrested Dayne protesters, having Ryan kill them. During the weeks that followed she had actually taken a liking to Ryan and she began to fall for him, although the same couldn't be said for Ryan. Ryan tried to escape many time but was unable to do so, becoming scared of Zinnia's infatuation with him, and hearing bad rumors about the crazy duchess.

Redemption/Alosia attack

In the months that followed, Zinnia had managed to make the riots worse throughout the Kingdom in Atla, with this especially taking a toll on her mother. Queen Clophea died in Tatiana after commanding Atlan forces against Primi rebels. Said to be from her over use of the  Sword of Atla, this left Zinnia devastated when she heard the news. With the young duchess, who had just turned 17, feeling as though she had been at fault for this. Ryan Oleander, still being kept against his will, actually comforted Zinnia during this time and began to feel an affection for her, seeing her more human side as appealing.

The tears were short lived however as a historic battle was about to take place. Forces from the Empire of Alosia, across the Siara sea in the Northern Lands, had engaged their first battle across the sea against the new kingdom, hearing of its weakened state. A now frantic Zinnia had no idea what she was to do, beginning to realize she isn't the great warrior her father is, with the Alosia forces laying siege to the city of Brida. Ryan, now having to act in Zinnia's shoes, had to set up a makeshift defense of the city. With the young blacksmith using his excellent memory, listening to various warriors who came to his shop, he put his defense on the beach as the Alosia forces began to land. The Brida forces fought valiantly but the surprise attack overwhelmed them quickly as Ryan's defense failed to hold up as Alosia forces made it to the gates of Brida.

Zinnia, managing to shake her scares, was able to get herself and her Lilyn forces down to the city gates with Ryan and the other Brida forces. Using all of the Lilyns and the full force of her powers, Zinnia's help was enough to hold the Alosia forces at the gates until an unexpected arrival of King Leon. Hearing rumors of an invasion from the Northern Lands he quickly left Tatiana, and an ill Clophea, and made the journey to Brida, surprising the Alosia from behind with his ships. A full force Atlan defense was too much for the Alosia as the remaining forces retreated back across the sea.

Disappointed in her daughter's poor rule over Brida, learning that she is not ready to rule, but also proud of her daughter's strong defense of a surprise attack gave Leon mixed feelings. But while Leon had mixed feelings the Annies of Brida had turned a full 180 for their duchess, praising her defense of the city and chanting "Cyralia" as she walked down the streets of Brida.

Expedition/Scare

With a spark being created during their defense of Brida, Ryan had fallen in love with Zinnia. And after hearing about the young commoners heroics in the defense of Brida, and seeing a lot of Clophea in Ryan, Leon gave his blessing for him to return with Zinnia to Almne. Zinnia's new lover, Ryan, adjusted to royal life, while she was disciplined and taught to be softer rulers. Being able to stay by Leon's side constantly now that the Kingdom of Atla was united again after the Alosia invasion.
Zinnia however, still shook by her mother's death and believing herself to be the cause, left Almne for a yearlong "mental cleansing" as she explored the barren Korrlu taiga. Leaving without any warning, most of Almne, especially King Leon, greatly aged from the stress, searched for the future Queen in secret as they tried to hide the fact of her disappearance from the people. Zinnia did return, now changed in both appearance and personality, becoming a much calmer and selfless person. Her transformation actually caught her own personal guards, and Ryan, off guard as they didn't believe it to be her, but her bright blue eyes and Polaris Blush, now much more controlled and powerful, gave the proof they needed that the Duchess had returned.

 

End of an Era/Queen's Work

A year and a half after Zinnia's return, on her 20th birthday, she was eligible to pick her own future King. The obvious choice was made as she chose Ryan Oleander, who she was still madly in love with. With the two getting married Ryan became the Duke of Brida and heir along with Zinnia. Their royal honeymoon was short lived however as the increased stress of Clophea's death, and his daughter's disappearance, had also taken a toll on Leon as well, with King Leon Polaris V, the last Forebearer, dying on Zinnia's 21st birthday. Now the end of a era, as Leon was the last Forebearer Polaris, new Queen Zinnia and King Ryan had to rule over a shocked and scared kingdom, with the fear of another attack possible from outside the kingdom, not having a Forebearer to protect them.

Zinnia worked tirelessly to prove to her people that she was just as strong as her father, finishing her father's plans to rebuild the kingdom's cities after the second wave of rebellions. Along with this she set up an Atlan council that would work in the Northern Lands, to ensure another surprise attack would not happen again. She also retired the Lilyns, having them placed in the tombs of the Polaris Forebearer Kings, and creating a new division of the military, known as the Atlan Nightguard, that would work with the royal family directly and act as their daily protection.

Later Years/Death

Although Zinnia was very busy ensuring peace for her kingdom, she did have time to give birth to three children. Jaylin, Siralia, and Korryn Polaris were all born. Zinnia tried her best to not repeat her father's mistake of spending too much time away from her kids but she could not prevent the inevitable. With even more work than her father, and more children, her children were never given the same attention. When Jaylin and Siralia possessed the same powers as Zinnia, she tried her best to work with them and have them work on their powers as much as possible, knowing the difficulties she faced as a child.
This left Korryn, not possessing the Polaris Blush, heavily neglected by her mother and her father as she spent most of her time outside of the kingdom. This choice however, was the reason one of her children had lived. As Zinnia had taken Jaylin and Siralia with her on a special meeting, leaving Korryn behind, which led to her own surprise death along with Jaylin, Siralia, and Ryan except. People across the kingdom mourned the royal family's death. But with the coronation of Korryn Polaris, people were also much more confident in a non Forebearer ruler after Zinnia proved that her mind was much more powerful than any ancient power she possessed.

Education

Knowing she would become the eventual Queen following the passing of her parents, she spent most of her time as a young child studying within "The Crystal Library" learning all she could about the history of Rhydar and what it meant to be a Polaris. With her hard work and dedication she managed to learn to control and use her Blush effectively, as well as being the youngest ever princess to pass what is known as the "High Court Examination". A test designed to evaluate young princes and princesses as to whether they are capable of taking the throne when the time comes. She passed at the age of 16, becoming the Duchess of Brida in the process.

Historical Implication

She was the birth that brought about the union of the Dayarin Empire and Polaris Kingdom, forming the Kingdom Under Atla. Though she accomplished much throughout her short life. Being the youngest princess at the time to pass the "High Court Examination". As well as the creation of a secret Atlan police force, Which would become the Atlan Night-guard, a secret branch of the Atlan military, during her time as Queen. Bringing stability to a stressful time in the Kingdom was her main priority though, with the death of her father sending shock waves across the kingdom and Rhydar as a whole, as well as many scares as to the safety of the Kingdom and its people.

Mental

Trama

With the death of Queen Clophea, and Zinnia's realization about her failure as a Duchess, this took a serious toll on Zinnia's mental state. After her return to Almne after the Alosia invasion, Zinnia went out on a long expedition in the Korrlu taiga. When she returned she was not only changed in appearance, but mental fortitude, also becoming much stronger mentally. Being able to handle the death of her father, King Leon, much better than her mother's.

Smarts 

 Queen Zinnia would be what most call a jack of all trades. With her intellectual prowess she became a great linguist, learning the three biggest languages in Rhydar; Siaran, Lynu, and Rheya. Her motivation to learn about the kingdom she was to rule one day led her to become one of the brightest minds within it.

Flexibility

Although very stubborn during her days as the Sirora/Cyralia, due to the fact she studied in the most expansive library in the kingdom and believed that she had all the knowledge she could need, with her expedition she returned a much more level headed individual. Becoming open to ideas and other perspectives from her Head Families and other diplomats, this became one of her best qualities.

Physical

Strength

Though during her childhood she didn't possess many of her father's Forebearer traits, as she aged she began to show more of the natural gifts of the Forebearers. Such as being stronger than Rhydans and her increased pain tolerance. Once these gifts shown through, she didn't have to work very hard to get herself into physical shape, or keep herself in it.

Defining Features

As with all Polaris descendants, a bright pink glow glazes over the skin whenever their Forebearer powers are used. This changed for Zinnia however, due to her half Forebearer ancestry and other factors, her skin would crack and crystalize due to her more mortal body. This is why she is only able to use a fraction of her power, with the crystallization only happening on her cheeks now. This was common for many half Forebearer descendants.

What was not common however was the blue hue that her power had taken, with it usually being pink. Zinnia's cousin, Lauria Milnu, possessing a pink hue to her powers. Although, while her power did possess the pink hue, it was considerably less powerful than Zinnia's.

Facial/Body Features

Though Zinnia is half Forebearer, and Forebearer traits are typically dominant traits, such as with Atlans, Zinnia is a spitting image of her mother, Clophea. With her strong jawline, slight pointed nose, and plump lips. Though while she shares her mother's face, it's her father's strong and resilient Forebearer body she was gifted with. Being much stronger than the average Rhydan and having skin that is as tough as Lilite, with her skin being uncuttable to anything other than Lilite itself, apart from her external appearance she was as much of a Forebearer as her father.

Apparel

Being the heiress to the Kingdom of Atla, she was forced to dress accordingly. Having to dress in beautiful dresses wherever she went. When she wasn't travelling however, or during her brief control over Brida, she dressed in casual apparel and did not care much for makeup or hair products, always opting for the more comfortable than presentable. One item she would always wear was an amulet that she would have around her neck. This amulet, which held a shard of the first piece of Lilite she manipulated, holds a significance to her as it proved that she was a Polaris.

Religion

From an early age, Zinnia was taught the religion of the Seven Sisters of Rhydar. Though she has had her doubts about the religion, she ultimately can't deny her powers have come from divine entity.

Aptitude

Since Zinnia was always drowned in books while studying in the Crystal Library, she read a great lot about conversational strategies and various speeches from famous Polaris Kings and leaders. This, along with her naturally charming voice, demeanor and her vast knowledge, made her a conversational prodigy. As she aged, and especially after her return following her disappearance to the Korrlu taiga, she changed to a more charismatic person, Using her experience and knowledge to get a great deal done for people in her kingdom rather than what she though was right.

Culture/Manners

Taught from a very young age the ways of proper Forebearer and Atlan culture, she was able to put on a very professional and cultured mask. When she was in her comfort zone however, she didn't very much care for mannerisms of any kind. As she got older and had children, she had to teach them these mannerisms and was forced to live using these royal mannerisms more and more often.

Quirks

Her most notable quirk is a slight lisp that she has to her speech. Although, this is most likely due to her Forebearer ancestry, her Polaris descendants all had this as well due to learning their ancient Forebearer language first.

Items

Due to the fact that she had to limit her powers to the bare minimum, at least until she was much older, Zinnia often carried around a pouch with small amounts of Lilite that she could manipulate and change into different shapes.

Abilities

Her main ability is being able to control and manipulate Lilite, this her easiest ability to use. Being half Forebearer however, Zinnia possess all the abilities of her father. Although, she was not able to control most of these until later in adulthood. The other of her abilities include; Lilite creation, skin transformation into Lilite, commune with deceased Polaris family members, super muscle density (super strength and speed), controlled invisibility and intangibility.

Her dedication to learn lead her to learn the five dialects of Siaran, the Northern Lands language of Lynu, Rheya, the most difficult language to learn for Siaran speakers, and an ancient Forebearer language from her father.

Atlan Transformation

Although Zinnia was the legitimate child of Leon and Clophea, her more Annie-like traits did not make it seem so. With most of her childhood and young adult life, up until her marriage to Ryan Oleander, she possessed dark brown hair and light tanned skin. With only her bright blue eyes being a sign of her Forebearer ancestry. 

During Zinnia's adult years, still haunted by the horrors she committed as the Sirora, she went on a long expedition in the Korrlu taiga. When she returned, Zinnia's hair had become bright white with a blue tint and her skin became much paler. It is unknown why this changed occurred, with folktales being told that she became an ice demon or that all the color froze off her body from the freezing temperatures. One thing is known though, that her powers had become substantially more powerful, with her body able to contain her full power.
