Anniy District

"From a city of Kings and Queens to a city of Princes and Princesses. This district is teeming with royalty"
Calace Oleander's "Journey of a Blacksmith"

Home to Rhydar's largest city, Brida, and the capital of the Kingdom of Atla, Almne. This district holds the title for the birth of modern Rhydan culture.

Demographics

Average Annie male

Average Atlan male
The two major demographic groups who live within the Anniy district, the Annies and Atlans, have lived in relative harmony for centuries. Although, due to the isolating themselves on the continent of Moara, and being sworn enemies of the Korrla people up until just recently, the Annies and Atlans have only really been able to breed amongst themselves, living little to the imagination when it comes to demographics. However, with the unification of the Kingdom of Atla, people from the continent of Avara, which includes the districts of Rhosaya, Dayara, Viansa, and Primiea, have began to migrate to the Anniy district.

Government

Being the capital district of the kingdom, holding the capital city of Almne, the district is the only one in the kingdom that does not house any head families. Instead members of the royal family are made Duke/Duchess of certain cities or lands and act as the head families would normally.

Defences

With the Atlan plateaus proving a very formidable defense against any invaders, it's no surprise they were chosen as the place to put the capital of various kingdoms.
The Anniy district, with its many rivers, plateaus, and mountains has always been endowed with great defenses. The only possible spot of vulnerability was the swamplands which are now home to the Kymba military base and the city of Kaika in the Kymba district.

Industry & Trade

With all trade having to go through either Almne or Brida, making these two cities very wealthy, most farmers, fishers, lumberjacks, and merchants clog the ports and streets of Brida and Almne.

History

Kingdom of Brida

The city state of Glxe was as far west as the Kingdom of Brida managed to go before running into the Atlans.

The first major kingdom to come from the Anniy River Valley was the Kingdom of Brida. The small twin cities of Brida and Koxa grew into the first of many kingdoms to come from this region. The Kingdom of Brida flourished during the early days when Atlan influence was at a low and the Annie people were able to spread as far north as Lau (Brynna) and as far west as Glxe, a small city state built on the edge of the Atlan plateau. The Polaris Kingdom soon rose however and the Kingdom of Brida was only given one choice, assimilation or face destruction.

Polaris Kingdom

For many centuries, and still today in Briora, the Atlans and Annies were very much hated by the Korrla

Emerging from the Atlan plateaus region, King Molan Polaris connected the Lily Forebearer tribes around one crown, creating the Polaris Kingdom. His heir, King Momo Polaris, assimilated the Kingdom of Brida and the Annie people into his kingdom. It wasn't until King Leon Polaris, however, that the precedent was set for the destruction and conquest that was to come. King Leon's destruction of the long standing city state of Lau set up many centuries of war with the Korrla people. This hatred that the Korrla people had for the Atlans and Annies was the case until the Polaris Kingdom, under the rule of King Avelon II, captured the cities of Briora and Emprys, ending the centuries long war and bringing Atlan culture to the Korrlu region.

"The Legends" or the ancient soldiers of Lau fought valiantly but could not defend their home from turning into ash

Atla/Rhosaya during Polaris Kingdom

The fishing village of Fayrcic holds much importance to the Polaris family, which is why they created AnnonRose from its foundation
King Avelon V was a very adventurous king, and with his capture of the city state of Kymn grew access to the west. He sailed west for the continent of Avara where he was the first Polaris to step foot on Avaran soil and meet the Rheyan people, landing in the small village of Fayrcic (now AnnonRose). King Avelon V worked towards peace with the Rhosaya Republic and laid plans for a trading network that would last for three hundred years.
After Atlan occupation of the Kris River Valley, Rheyan support for the Polaris Kingdom fell
The Rhosaya Republic needed help from their allies across the seas as a new threat was emerging, Daya's Empire. Daya's Empire had managed to take control of the southern Kris River Basin where most of Rhosaya's rice exports to the Polaris Kingdom came from. King Leon III, much too old and frail, hired the first Korrla invasion onto Avaran soil. He tasked Commander Kea Lynulu with taking back the city of Krisie. He won the battle, killing Daya the Unrelenting in the process, and was gifted the lands of the Kris River Basin by King Leon III, which he had renamed to the Lynulu River Basin. This upset many Rheyans who had thought that they were going to get their land back and led to an early death for King Molan III by Rheyan terrorists. The newly anointed Queen Riana Polaris took out her grief and rage on the Rheyan people. Sending a self led army of over 500,000 soldiers to the Rhosaya peninsula, burning and sacking every city and town, except for Fayrcic, killing more than a million Rheyans before capturing Rhosavelle and incorporating Rhosaya into the Polaris Kingdom.

Dayne/Atlan Relations

Emperor Clo and Empress Phea Immie were known more for their bloodthirst rather than diplomacy
With the capture of Krisie and the taking of the Lynulu River Basin, Daya's Empire didn't stand as much of a threat to the Polaris Kingdom. With the death of their Empress Daya the Unrelenting and her daughter, Riana the Calm, unable to create the same fear Daya used to keep the Empire together, it slowly collapsed on itself as the Polaris Kingdom left the lands of the Avara plains up for grabs. With the Polaris Kingdom distracted by the invasion of Rhosaya, the Primiea Empire rose from the ashes of Daya's Empire in the Prims region on the twin islands. After Riana the Vengeful's conquest of the Rhosaya Republic the Polaris Kingdom turned their attention to the Primiea Empire, who had now amassed much of the land that Daya's Empire once held. With their capture of the city of Daya Nila, now becoming the Dayarin Empire, and now threatening the Polaris Kingdom's rice fields, King Molan IV declared war on the Dayarin Empire. The tiring war exhausted both powers' resources, but the Dayarin Empire's resources more so than the Polaris Kingdom's. With the death of King Molan IV and King Leon V taking to the throne, seeing how demoralized his men were, who just wanted to go home, the young king wrote up the Treaty of Krisie and met with Emperor Corea Immie. The two agreed to the treaty, which led to the creation of the Kingdom of Atla.
Krisie, also known as the Lover's city, was were peace and love was made between the Dayarin Empire and Polaris Kingdom

Kingdom of Atla

Clophea adorned the Sword of Atla many times, though this began to take its toll on the young Queen's appearance

After the Treaty of Krisie was signed and Clophea Immie and Leon Polaris married to solidify peace, the young King and Queen worked hard to quell many small rebellions that broke out across the kingdom, especially within the new Anniy district. With the formation of the districts and the head families of the kingdom, the Anniy district was left angry that they did not have this same luxury, having the royal family rule over areas as Dukes/Duchesses. The rebellions eventually quelled and peace settled into the kingdom and the Anniy district as they grew more supportive of their direct rule.

Geography

Anniy River

Anniy River cutting through the center of Loa

The Anniy river is an artificial river that was built during the times of the Polaris Kingdom. After the capturing of the Kymn peninsula and the city state of Kymn, King Avelon V drew up plans for a future river that would connect the two ends of their kingdom. It wasn't until King Leon III that those plans actually grew into what would be the Anniy river.

A small town, Ano, was built around the Caci waterfall for the people employed to work the lifts

Beginning at Brida, the natural river stops at Glxe, at the Glxe waterfall, where lifts take boats up to the top of the Atlan plateau where they continue to the Caci lake, the source of the Ani river. The Caci lake was fed with several new sources of water from sections of the plateau, and given a singular large outsource. This outsource is what runs through the city of Almne before meeting with the Kyny river at the western of the Atlan plateau. The Kyny river then runs down the plateau, passing through Loa, before reaching the waterfall that creates the border of the Anniy and Kymba districts. The most difficult and longest part of this project, digging out the waterfall and creating a shallow incline for the river to flow down, only being completed during the time of King Leon V and the formation of the Kingdom of Atla, was completed, creating a smooth sail down the Kyny river all the way to Kaika.

The two rivers, once connected, where renamed to the Anniy river, meaning excitable water, although many people still refer to the rivers by their past names.

Polaris Relatives

Loais Family

Eira Loais, a Rheyan enthusiast, who also worked on many rebuilding projects in the destroyed Rhosaya district. This included the building of AnnonRose and the revitalizing of Rhosavelle in the hopes it would keep the Rheyan people happy. She also organizes the handing over of the Sword of Atla to the Temple of Rhos in Hana as an eternal sign of peace

The family with the second most power in the Kingdom, The Loais family are direct relatives of the Polaris family. The Loais family kept their bloodline pure along with the Polaris family, with several Polaris Kings taking Loais family members to be their wifes. After the death of Queen Avela with King Molan III, parents to Queen Riana, the last living pureblood Loais died and the family lost a lot of its prestige. However, with the joining of the Kingdom of Atla, the Loais family have served as "rulers of the east" due to their closer Forebearer lineage than any other Atlan family.

Viaris Family

Bri Viaris, ambassador for Atla, travels regularly to Brevea and Hinona, Atla's two biggest allies, worked to increase tensions between the Northern Lands nations so that they don't ever unite.

The second most powerful family in Atla, and Almne, the Viaris family, know for their black hair and golden eyes, unlike most other Atlans who have white hair and light eyes, this family is the closest to the Polaris' and Loais' without being direct relatives. Although Bri Viaris was the first bride to King Molan Polaris, that's as far as the relations go, as they had no children. Most Viaris serve as nobles and protector to the Polaris', and on occasion ambassadors to other nations.

Combat

Alwyn

Atlan in a defensive Alwyn stance

Alwyn is the fighting style most used in Atlan military in Kaika and originated within the Atla plateau from the Atlans themselves. This style requires the use of a single two handed sword and is a slow, sluggish style of fighting. What the style doesn't have in speed though it makes up for in power with its heavy stance and its use of unique Swyndled weapons. With unique Swyns created for each type of weapon by Swyn experts, the only time new Swyns have been created successfully, these weapons are in full sync with their weapon, adding to the amount of power the weapon has. Coupled with a wielder with a Flare, which sadly most Atlans do not possess, that matches the weapons this becomes the best fighting style you can use, being able to destroy ten men with the single swing of a sword. Since such specific qualities have to be met, and no one apart from Atlans can buy these types of swords, this fighting style is just most of the time just a heavy footed fighting style.

Aba

Keeping one hand free is the key to the Aba style

A much more common fighting style and one that was created by the Annie people themselves. Seeming to take aspects from the Rheyan Aveas style however, using a variant of the two sworded combat while only using one sword. Being ambidextrous is the key to this fighting style as being able to change between hands is what makes Aba very unique and dangerous.
Aba can be used with a variety of weapons, and can also be used in tandem with a shield.
