Dayara District

"I don't just fight for my people. I fight for the air they breathe, the land they walk on, the animals that graze. And I would do it again if I had the chance"
Emperor Corea

Largest district in area and population. Home to many innovations, diverse peoples, ancient empires, and, now, Atlan influence in the true west.

Demographics

Ethnic Dayne male using Swyns

Though many people have inhabited what is now the Dayara District, the populations of these were very homogeneous until the days of Daya's Empire when mixes of Rheyan and what were then Hanu (Primi) people mixed with their populations. With the migration of Korrla to the Viansa region, some undoubtedly made their way into the then Primiea and future Dayarin Empire, and with the combining of the Dayarin Empire and Polaris Kingdom, many Atlans and Annies migrated to the new district as well.

Government

Onnie Leris of the Leris Head Family, Born to a Dayne mother and Atlan father

Due to the history of having many empires rule this area for many centuries, there were not too many powerful family that could rule the district adequately, with it being so big. So because of this many Atlan families entered the Dayara District and became head families in the region, marrying Daynes and having children that united the two enemies more.

As for the families that were in the district, there were very few, but all very diverse due to the district's influence from many peoples. The Pasrin family, in Stoiana, is ethnically Rheyan due to Stoiana's history as a Rheyan city. The Tamarnee family, being ethnically Dayne, is based in Daya Nila and rules as one of the few Dayne Head Families. And the Imi family, royal family of the Dayarin Empire and the now Head Family in Morganelle, being ethnically Primi.

Defences

Large plains with little to no inhabitants

The space between the towns and cities made it difficult for any warring power to fully defeat an empire in this region, which is why they were so successful for so long. As well as this, having the Luppi mountains to the north and the wola to the south made invasions from those regions very difficult. Which is why clusters of towns and small cities formed in these regions, with the most densely populated region of the district being the western area by Morganelle and the Luppi mountains.

Industry & Trade

While there are a few who succeed in the Dayara District, most remain some of the poorest in the kingdom

The large farming industry in the Dayara plains and Lexu and Lynulu river valleys, as well as the mining industry in the Luppi mountains make this district the richest in terms of amount of exported and sold items. Though, because of its large population, many of the people are left poor as the wealth is held at the top.

Infrastructure

Rhonda, birthplace of Ryan and Savanna Oleander, a small town bordering the Luppi Mountains, an average Dayne town

Due to the space between towns and cities, the empires of the past could never keep up with all of their towns and peoples that they ruled over. And while the Kingdom of Atla is trying their best, there are many Dayne towns, and their people, left forgotten.

History

Before Daya

Nothing more than huts, the nomadic peoples of the Leara, or green lands, were always fighting with other tribes

Before Daya the Unrelenting came and united the tribes of this the eastern part of this region. The Lexu river tribes were nothing more than mostly nomadic peoples who were still roaming and hunting for their food, building makeshift huts and not yet founding large scale agriculture. Although most of the people of this area, mostly the ethnic Dayne, were a nomadic peoples, the powerful Rhosaya monarchy had several towns and cities along the coast. The most important of these was the city of Stoiana, this city, at the mouth of the Lexu River, was used as a major export of Remnant that was mined from the Luppi Mountains and taken down the river. The family in charge of this city, the Pasrins, were the birth family of Daya the Unrelenting. This has been proven by many Atlan historians, due to the fact she was ethnically Rheyan and based on facial features and locations she conquered.

Daya the Unrelenting/Daya's Empire

Daya the Unrelenting, bloodshed and destruction was the way of her early success

Lia Daya Pasrin, later to become Daya the Unrelenting, united the tribes of the nomadic Dayne people and created the first empire in this region. Daya's Empire stretched from the border of the now Lynulu and Kris rivers, at Daya Nila, to her birth place of Stoiana, which she had captured from the Rhosaya monarchy, who was dealing with rebellions of their own. Though Daya's Empire was built out of quick conquest and blood, she ruled with a relatively free and soft hand. Many of her citizen live in peace and enjoyed the rule under their strong Empress, knowing they had a strong warrior protecting them from outsiders. Though, as Daya grew older and her daughter, Riana the Calm, was found out to not be a strong warrior like her mother, many people of the empire grew scared and began to rebel within the empire. Daya took to one last battle, hoping that having her daughter at her side would prove she was the strong warrior her people need, and marched to the Rheyan city of Krisie. After capturing the Rheyan city of Krisie the Polaris Kingdom came in, with them calling the help of Korrla Commander Kea Lynulu to take the city back. Commander Lynulu took the city back, defeating the weaken Dayne forces and killing Empress Daya in the process. After the death of their thought to be undefeatable Empress the empire began to fall apart, with the great empire Daya built fragmenting into various city states that ruled over smaller regions.

Morgana of the West and the Primiea Empire

Art depicting Morgana of the West in Glebb armor, with her half Rheyan half Primi features

Almost a century after the fall of Daya's Empire, and many wars over various Dayne city states hoping to reunite this old empire, a candidate emerged from an unlikely place. Known as Morgana of the West, claiming to be the granddaughter of Riana the Calm, she emerged from the Prims region and took up the role of Empress of this region. Claiming to have royal blood, having a Flare very much similar to Daya the Unrelenting, apart from its blue hue, Morgana of the West quickly gained popularity in the western Dayara region as she built her capital, Morganelle, on the Riana river, named after her grandmother. Morgana moved her conquest west as she took the Lexu River Valley and Stoiana easily and with the same vicious force as Daya. With her movement gaining more steam and plausibility many other Dayne City States fell into line and joined.

Morgana's empire, the Primiea Empire, stretched a much larger distance than Daya the Unrelenting's ever did. Reaching from the Prims region and the cities of Leyrn and Gleb, all the way west to Morganelle, and east to the new city of Dayanan. After Morgana of the West passed and her son, Erin the Unhinged, renamed the district to the Dayarin Empire, he began attacking the Rhosaya Republic and threatened the Polaris Kingdom with various raids conducted on the southern Viansa region near Krisie. This was unpopular among many in the empire, as they did not want to fight anymore wars, but after trying to get a quick end to this by assassinating Erin and putting his young son, Emperor Corea, on the throne this only created more problems. This caused outrage among the people who supported going to war, as they began an internal conflict within the empire. This mini civil war was quickly ended by the young King Corea, who had proved himself to be strong like his father. But although the young Emperor had managed to stop conflict in his empire, war from the outside was just around the corner as the Polaris Kingdom was mobilizing troops in the Viansa, which was the beginning of a war that would last two generations.

The Dayarin/Polaris War

This siege, the siege of Daya Nila, like many others did not work, as the two powers were locked in a stalemate for many years

As much as Emperor Corea did not want to go to war, he had little choice, as his father's raids against the Polaris Kingdom ha worked as they began mobilizing to attack back. Emperor Corea, still only twenty, began a war that would still continue until his own death of old age. The Dayarin-Polaris war, as much as Emperor Corea tried to prevent it, was inevitable, as King Leon IV began attacks on the eastern Dayarin Empire. A long game of tug of war ensued as land was taken, then retaken and taken, then retaken and so on. With King Leon IV death and the throne being handed to his experienced warrior son, King Molan III, Emperor Corea devised a plan to take out two birds with one stone.
Emperor Corea was made Emperor at the age of 16, the youngest ruler in Rhydan history, just beating Queen Riana (17)

Rumors of the Rheyans joining in on the conflict from the south worried Corea, so he planned to framed them for the assassination of the Polaris King. King Molan's death, along with his heir and wife, caused a short time of turmoil within the Polaris Kingdom as the Dayarin Empire gained considerable ground on their enemies. With Queen Riana and her Atlan forces turn on the Rhosaya Republic this gave Emperor Corea exactly what he needed to push the Annie and Korrla forces out of the Viansa. He very nearly succeed, however, Queen Riana had taken the Rhosaya Republic quickly than anyone would have though, in just around a month, as their full attention was once again turned towards the Dayarin Empire. However, Queen Riana elected to stay in Rhosaya, quelling rebellions instead of using the southern flank to attack the Dayarin Empire. Atlan forces were sent back up to fight again as the war returned to a stalemate period.
Crowning of Emperor Clo, a powerful warrior who served under his father

The war had taken its toll on the Emperor as Corea died and left the throne to his son, Emperor Clo. Growing up in war, Clo was much more like his grandfather, Erin the Unhinged, and fought without valor. He attacked the Rhosaya puppet state that had been created by the Polaris Kingdom, capturing Rhosavelle and protecting his southern flank. He also allowed the Atlan forces into Dayarin land, letting his soldiers use homes of civilians as protection, hiding and surprising enemies. While his efforts saw massive results, the people turned sour on him quickly as many people, including soldiers, left for the Prims region refusing to fight. With Emperor Clo now having lower manpower he began to slowly lose ground on Queen Riana. However with Queen Riana's surprising death this left King Leon V to the Polaris throne. And with King Leon V seeing the demoralized troops on both sides he decided to call a truce with Emperor Clo, leading to the Treaty of Krisie and the creation of the Kingdom of Atla.

Dayara District and Prophecies

Due to Zinnia's possessing traits closer to an Annie, and not the traditional ones of a Half Atlan, questions were raised about the legitimacy of her as a Polaris, but those stopped once she possessed the same powers as her father's.

After the Treaty of Dayara was signed, the Dayarin Empire was split into two separate districts, the Dayara District on the Avara mainland, and the Primiea District, where many people fled to avoid the war. Emperor Clo and Empress Phea were giving the status of a Head Family member, creating the Immie Head Family in Morganelle. Although they wouldn't lose all their royal leverage as Clophea Immie, their daughter and heiress, was to become King Leon V's Queen and they would have a child together, one half Dayne and Atlan to ensure peace, at least as long as it was a daughter. A secret clause within the treaty states that the first child of Leon and Clophea must be a daughter in order for the treaty to technically take effect, for if it was a son the treaty would be broken and war would continue. Thankfully their first was a girl, future Queen Zinnia Polaris.

Combat

Dati

Dati was used a lot by Primiea soldiers during Morgana's conquest. Using special Swyn chained swords called Peia

This combat style, adopted by Daya's Empire and its successors, was used by Daya herself and can only be used by Flare users as it is meant to be matched with a Flare. Due to the fact that the Dayara District has the most Flare users of any district, it's a match made in heaven. This style require a weapon wielding hand and a Flare wielding hand. The weapon can be any, as long as it can be used with one hand, and is used in tandem with the Flare to cause the most amount of damage possible.

Idis

Pana Isolde using Idis with ancient Rheyan lightning Swyn successfully. Idis is the rarest fighting style in the kingdom, with only a handful of masers, such as Pana.

This fighting style, with Rheyan roots in Stoiana, is used mostly throughout the Dayara coastal areas around the Pasmana sea. This unique style, called simply "The Lighting" in Siaran, takes the use of either ancient Rheyan lightning Swyns or lightning Flares. Used in tandem with a bow staff, the fighter would typically create lightning around the enemy to disorient them before they would attack with blows to the knees and elbows. After this lightning would be channeled through the metal staff before a final blast would destroy the enemy. This fighting style was meant for quick fights against multiple enemies, though, it is rarely used due to the rarity of lightning Flares and the dangerous nature of those Rheyan lightning Swyns, often causing death to the user more than any other Swyn. Gara Norlana, the Rheyan Awakened back during the times of the Dayarin-Polaris war, learned about this fighting style while in the Citadel of Korha, using this forgotten style and bringing it back into the fold, defending the Korrlu region against Dayarin attacks.
