War of the Aldergaard Peninsula

The War of the Aldergaard Peninsula was a war fought between the Kingdom of Redoria and Kingdom of Torania over the control of the city of Aldergaard that lays of the shores of Lake Drake and is a lucrative trade hub at the source of the Tora River.
The War itself is perhaps the greatest conflict in a series of small wars and skirmishes instigated by the Kingdom of Redoria to seize lucrative trade points along the Bryn and Tora rivers as wells as upon the shores of Lake Drake. The Redorian king, King Demeter Halador, was well known for favouring a martial rule within his domain (as was a common tradition by rulers of Redoria) and he used such conflicts as an easy means of gaining power and resources if he was successful, and quelling the rebellious nature of his subjects if he was not.
However, this time Demeter may have bitten off more than he could chew. The majority of conflicts he had waged with neighbouring states had largely been over stretches of strategic yet sparsely populated lands. Lands that served as buffers between states and lands that served to facilitate little more than travel and trade. This war was to be different and against an opponent that Demeter had greatly underestimated. The city of Aldergaard was the largest settlement within the Kingdom of Torania, its importance as a trade hub on the source of the Tora River allowed great wealth and prosperity to grace the city, and as a result, the rest of the Kingdom. The peninsula upon which Aldergaard is located stretches several miles into Lake Drake, providing an easily defendable approach and ideal location for ships to efficiently and quickly dock. The approach to this peninsula is hemmed in by forest and sloping hillsides that lower in jagged steps from the Redcrest Mountains down to the shores of the lake. Perhaps Demeter's most difficult obstacle would be his enemy's leader, the King of Torania.
Alfrun Harjusun, known as King Alfrun the Blackfist, was already an experienced commander, having led his people to victory in a minor war against a Runic incursion. Alfrun had garnered a reputation for being highly stubborn and being unyielding in both combat and his domestic policy.

Outcome

Despite being largely outclassed by the warrior nobility of Redoria, Torania and its King put up a stalwart defence of Aldergaard and its surrounding land, ultimately winning by attrition of their foes coffers.
