Grand Duke Armas Ilkitala (a.k.a. Grand Duke Armas III)
Armas Ilkitala, son of Tapani "Young-Arm", was born in the Nuonela Palace while his father was visiting his brother, the then Grand Duke Joonas II, both in his duties as the treasurer of the Grand Duchy and to console Joonas as his health was failing. At the time of Armas' upbringing, the old Ilkitala strongholds of Huhtika, Partador and the Palace of Nuonela had fallen, if not into a state of disrepair, certainly they had become outdated and unfit to host nobles of such standing. At a young age, Armas took a keen interest in history and his lineage, his well-educated mother and father only too happy to oblige these interests.
During his younger years as he became a man, Armas harboured a good repour with his cousin Joonas III , under whom Armas would become the Katturi of the Banners. A position which involved a great deal of travel for Armas as he convened with the Surcounts and lesser lords of Doria to discuss the coordination of laws at the local level, military matters and, to Armas' particular interest, the upkeep and improvement of infrastructure.
This would be a role that Armas would continue on into the reign of his own father, and even a large degree his own reign when he came to the position of Grand Duke in the year 7564.
