Fusa - The Undercity

Fusa began as a mining town across the river from the city proper. The name Fusa was given to the shanty town built around the mine's lifts and entrances. A bastardized word for Pit. Magnus was built on the top of a vast mithril and silver rich location. The headmasters of Magnus for over a century managed Fusa and it's export of these valuable minerals for creation and sales.   As the years past after the initial mines were dug, vast caverns were found below where further mines were developed and found. Eventually the mining town of Fusa had to expand as families grew and not all were allowed to live in the wonderful walls of Magnus. So the town extended into the mines where these massive caverns were found. During this time the Phoenix Council had factories build down in these caverns to process the minerals and metals before reaching Magnus above. Unfortunately these factories did cause smog and pollution. Above ground it wasn't uncommon to occasionally see a fissure of gas reach the top.   Not allowed in the city of Magnus the once small mining town of Fusa began to expand and grow into the city it is today. For some time the two major factions of the time, the factory owners and the mining foremen and leaders did as was asked of them. The money was good and they lived well. Some of them crafting glass home with their own internal environments, a small bastions of wealth and privilege. It wasn't until the Alchems came along and convinced these two factions to break away from Magnus for it would make them even more wealthy.   The Alchems brought alchemical innovations to the city through their alchemy and artificer talents. The fields of weaponry, defense, and medicine expanded. But with it unusual and mutated beings began to show up as well.   The primary trade here is that of alchemy, but they too also deal in technology. But Fusa trades in the very thing it took from Magnus in its independence. Mithril and Silver. Mining is still active, new veins are still being found.

Government

The city of Fusa is ran by the three divisions of the Miner Lords, the Factory Barons, and the Alchems. Each presides over different aspects of city management, but it is often the Barons and their men who run the city.

Industry & Trade

The city runs on the mines that run deep under the city. It's the primary income, resource, and job platform for Fusa. Outside of this the city does not limit nor hinder innovation as much as Magnus does. This is lead to many artificers, dark practitioners, and drug dealers to run pretty smoothly down below. But even still plenty of honest trades and businesses run out of Fusa as well. With the city being as close to the Netherdeep as it is, the unique flora and even fauna has its appeal.

Districts

Old Town District is primarily a housing and residential district and is the oldest portion of Fusa. The Cauldron being the districts only and the cities first market place, still sees frequent visits from both Magnus and Fusa's other districts. A stand out feature of the district is that of the Midnight Sanctum, a clocktower in the center of the district. Its illuminated faces are able to be seen from almost anywhere in the district. Within the Old Town District are four subdivisions: The Old Ward, The Cauldron, The Lanes, and Old Town   New Town District houses a lot of the primary businesses and is one of the most well kept areas of the city. When folks say they are heading to Fusa it is likely here as many shops and businesses of all sorts can be found here. Newer housing can be found in this district with large apartment structures taking advantage of the stone wall of the immense cavern. Structures similar to Old Town use girders and support beams to interconnect some of the buildings to make them very tall. This is also the same district where you can find the homes of the Lords of Fusa, where they reside in the High Court. Within the New Town District there are five subdivisions: The Miner Circle, Candor's Crown, Fallon's Square, Mythril Rise, and New Tower   The Obsidian District is currently home to all of the active and current mining operations. Mine 012 and 013 have been the most active and lucrative of the mines and have been so for about 25 years now. There are some housing and barracks like structures for workers and the Baron's Men, but otherwise it's mostly warehouse, storage, and business. The one most notable location here is Fusa's prison, The Lock Box
Notable Locations:   The Final Brew (The Cauldron, the Old Ward): A herbalist shop run by three older women, former adventurers. The shop is a little over twenty years old and is a place where many are welcome to find brewing supplies, purchase completed concoctions, or to have them made by request.   Midnight Sanctum (The Lanes, the Old Ward): The Sanctum is the local brothel and artist's hub. Not a venue for rock concerts, but quiet and soulful jazz style music. A place where you find companionship and comradery amongst the artsy folk of the city and Magnus alike. Their proprietor, the Dusk Keeper, is rumored to have been around since the inception of the city.   The Mandragora (Old Town, the Old Ward): A bar run by Maxwell Gnashmaw, a local druid and herbalist that makes a living as barkeep and proprietor of the establishment. Folks looking for a quiet drink find themselves here as it's not a place that gets loud or rowdy.   The Tearmann (New Tower, New Town): One of the oldest structures in Fusa. During the development of first sets of buildings the area of Fusa that is known as New Town today, the Tearmann was the first church in Fusa. It has changed hands many times, but it has always stayed within in Ward family line. Several decades back now it was renovated into a tavern when the family no longer kept to being clergymen. The current proprietor, Lucien Ward is the current heir to the building.
