The Mandragora

This two story building has a worn and made from old wood and metal that have been lovingly cared for over many years. A swinging sign over its front door with a plant like creature, mouth wide as if screaming or singing, and a mic in hand. The words "Mandragora" written beneath the image.   The proprietor is an older half-orc, Maxwell Gnashmaw. He's been the owner of the establishment for several decades at this point. He brews the alcohols himself in the basement of the building and room for himself above the main floor. He is currently housing a tenant in what used to be a large closet meant for supplies and from the smell, possibly some herbs not meant to grow in the light. Maxwell has a kind, but gruff approach to people. Happy to say hello and see how your day is going but doesn't hesitate to call you an "idgit" if you are acting like a fool.
Other staff includes Feena Toadberry, former bard of some reknown. She keeps an eye out for problems in the bar. She's got a good insight on reading a crowd. She was fairly famous in both Fusa and Magnus for her folky style music, but her voice began to fail her, and it seemed no amount of healing could fix it, she just couldn't sing like she used to. Her soulful humming still brings a smile to the patrons who knew her back then, but since her fall from fame she's lived a quiet life of obscurity serving in the quiet little bar and unlike most bards seems to not mind the quiet life. Occasionally she still sings, but she can't quite reach the notes she used to and sadly some notes fall flat but ask anyone in the bar and she still sings just as beautifully.

Architecture

One of the few buildings in Fusa that still retain its wood exterior. Years underground usually leads to decay and rot, which is why most buildings are built with stone and steel exteriors with wood interior. This building maintains its original vigor and unmarred by degradation due to years in Fusa. It's beautifully maintained and it something one would expect to see in a town on the surface.

History

Originally, this building was only meant to be Maxwell's home, but after working long years in the mines he refused to do it no more. So, instead he renovated his first floor into a bar. At first it was rudimentary, but it at the time was close to some of the more active mines, which drew in a lot of his old mining buddies who brought their buddies along. Business boomed for him, which is when he brought in Feena and built her a stage. Wasn't long before she started making a name for herself and left to bigger venues, but musicians continue to flow through the door. He was making enough money to redesign and clean up the interior add an additional floor to the building and properly redesign the bar to what it is today.   Unfortunately, the good times had to come to an end. Closer to the time of the civil war between Magnus and Fusa, the old mines were closing down either from hitting dead ends or had run dry. Which meant business moved on. His location became more and more out of the way for his old buddies. Business slowed down. Rather than importing he switched to home brewing, which is what most of his stock is today. During this time, he studied with druids to learn their craft and how to maintain plant life in harsher conditions such as Fusa.   The bar has managed to maintain itself over the years due to local denizens still visiting for drinks either at the end of their workday or because it's just their favorite place to drink. When Feena's singing career died off, she came back to her roots and began working at the bar. The presence of this semi-famous bard drew some customers in. Plenty come to hear her occasionally sing and be in her presence.
