Languages of Resa

The languages spoke across Resa:  

Standard Languages

These languages were developed on Resa by its various inhabitants.
  • Common - Spoken originally by Humans, but has spread to become the primary trade language.
  • Elvish - Commonly spoken by Elves and on Miastrath.
  • Dwarvish - Commonly spoken by Dwarves and on Aelerith.
  • Gnomish - Born from a combination of Elvish and Dwarvish, Gnomes are the primary speakers
  • Halfling - An airy language that gave many parts to Common, spoken primarily by Halflings
  • Orcish - Spoken by Orcs, Orcish has become the language of sailors and mariners across Resa.
  • Giant - Originating from The True Giants, Goliath and  
  • Frenche - A harsh language spoken by the Beastwalkers with slight variations between the clans.
  • Auran - The language of the Aarakocra and Kenku, made up of trills and whistles like birdsong.

Exotic Langauges

Most of these languages are from extra-planar sources.
  • Goblin - Spoken by the goblinoids that now plague Resa, scholars have deciphered the language to help frontiersmen negotiate with the goblinoids.
  • Abyssal - A harsh language spoken by the Demon legions unleashed on Resa as the first wave of The Astral Incursion
  • Celestial - The language of celestials that was primarily deciphered by scholars using captured Darkstar Dynasty technology and records.
  • Draconic - Brought by dragons on both sides of The Astral Incursion, it is one of the more common exotic languages.  
  • Deep Speech - Somehow both guttural and ethereal, Deep Speech is the esoteric language of abberations.
  • Infernal - The language of the Devils that once served in the Darkstar Dynasty. Mostly spoken by Tieflings, its words feel warm on the tongue.
  • Primordial - A strange language thought to be the language of the land itself. Genasi and Elementals are the most common speakers.
  • Sylvan - First heard spoken by the Fey soldiers of the Darkstar Dynasty, its a beautiful language deeply connected to nature.
