Kingdom of Lionwind
Lionwind is a Successor State to Alircornia, in 0 AD the country was in a complete civil war between Royalists and Theocrats that lasted until 617 AD as a part of the conclusion of the 1st Equestrian Civil War. The War was in a deadlock until Lexer staged an intervention in 602 with the 16th and 18th legions, using their hoplites and guardians to turn the tide of battle and install the Silvershade Dynasty into Lionwind.
After the War Silvershade spent the entire era of grey, decades upon decades rebuilding the kingdom, defeating theocratic insurrections and quelling corruption within until 3356 AD when the final vestiges of the Theocrat Rebellion were put down far fort. After this, the Kingdom prospered partaking in many wars as it did in the past against Elkhiem and Naqah until about 4467 AD when the Kingdom retreated from mainland politics as order and stability continued to steadily decline.
Lionwind at this point was in the control of Darrin Silvershade who was an isolationist but after his sudden death in 4487 AD when his Son Richard took over and steadily began scaling up Lionwind's involvement with many questions surrounding the wisdom of involvement and the concern over stability.
Government
Unlike other kingdoms, Lionwind has a long history of electing rulers, as it was the Theocrat's wish to place Manus as the supreme ruler and sidestep the will of the people and replace the Silvershade Dynasty. Because of this inherent system, the expectation of rights, good counsel and rulership is an expected part of the Lionwind government. The People are very proud as is the line of officials who make up the court and they broadcast this pride wherever they go. Because of this existing expectation, there isn't a huge undercurrent of Republican uproar and radical ideologies like Equalism and Totalism aren't huge influences though they are present and receive well-earned suspicion. They believe themselves to be the true examples of what Royalism should be, simply because there is a Kind or Queen or two pairs of the same doesn't mean tyranny must follow. As such The King's Cabinet is elected by Guild elections, For instance, the guilds run certain figureheads for the King's Cabinet and depending on who is put into the cabinet changes whose interests are being represented in the Cabinet, this refreshes every 5 years. In terms of long-term overarching policy, the Court Council is the King's direct helping hand that helps keep the country well-run and stable.Law and Judgement
Justice in the land is handled by the Royal Court which is staffed by paladins sworn to the King and by oath to uphold the law, they are basically Local Guardians with judges being appointed by the King to enforce their laws. These judges are selected from a line of Justicars who serve as lower judges and operate smaller courts guarded by the Paladins. This means the Monarch is pretty much behind the decision and creation of laws but is answerable to the Cabinet and may Veto the laws for their guild and stop the law from functioning should it prove unpopular with the Kingdom.Taxes and Responsability
Lionwind collects up to 7% of Taxes on the poor and 20% on the Rich, these taxes pay for the military, infrastructure and various institutions like public schooling which the School's guild handles. The Financial guild is the organization that manages finances and occasionally raises taxes or uses fundraisers to pay for extra costs whether it is more expensive development or raising money for wars. To reap the benefits from these taxes, the ruling class must fight for the Kingdom and be a part of its everyday function. This is to prevent was it referred to as Parasitic taxing.Lodge of Foreign Affairs
This is the office that was gutted in the former King's reign, under Richard they have retaken their old role of representing the Kingdom's interests aboard and tried to organize trade deals and diplomatic outreach with the other nations. They are also the only government organization that the Kingdom's enemies can talk to broker peace. They have embassies across various world nations like Alpacan, Tapira, Lexer and Northern Equestria. their very busy, often trying to educate other Monarchies on how to run and remind them of the Old laws under Alicornia and trying to get Equestrians to respect the authority of Celestia to try and instil some sense of justice and stability within the Nations of the Mainland.Economy
Lionwind is a fully functional market economy with companies existing in the form of Guilds which run large networks of businesses in their specific field and are meant to keep the market functional, profitable and stable enough to ensure a good quality of life can ensue. Much of the guilds is about rebuilding the Kingdom. Great Scribe Orion Ulesstus many years ago recorded the ancient state of Alicornia and it was agreed to not settle for things as they were but to push ahead and regain the splendour of Alicornia without its shame. The Economy is all about building generational wealth, rather than just the young taking the place of the old, they have more than what came before them as is the goal of everyone in the country, mostly. The destruction of business and progress is seen as a sad affair. Economic downturns, extortionate policies and otherwise are seen as dangers and hindrances to their destined mission and thus harshly cracked down upon.Currency
On Equs it is rare when a country has not only an independent currency but a healthy one. The Crown is a healthy currency that has been supported by the Kingdom as part of how they keep the Yorta Corporation out of the nation. The currency is pretty obtainable by everyone with all the coins being made out of Silver because of how common Silver is and its value tied to Oil and Precious metals.Jobs & Function
There is very little unemployment, this is because of the Guild System. There are always requirements, whether it s farming, mining, building and factory work. Because of this, there are few homeless and while living conditions may not always be the most ideal, they are functional and provide common citizens with an endless stream of goals and tasks to complete. Work shifts generally end at 3 PM and most go to sleep by 7 PM and wake up at 5 AM where they relax some more before going back to work.Trade & Production
Thanks to the current system workers are never in short supply so the production of goods is very reliable with about 280 factories across the country producing Magi tech, Weapons, ammo, Industry goods, agricultural technology and of course plenty and plenty of oil to be shipped across the sea into Western Equestrian owned seas and shipped throughout the mainland. of course, this means that Yorta is always trying to get one over Lionswind through the use of trade routes but Lionswind is pretty forceful and there have been occasional skirmishes between Yorta's trading Companies and royal fleets that escort the resources to their allies. When it does come to producing, these factories are large foundries usually with many smiths and experts working together in these large workshops to make high-quality goods. Rather than trying to compete in the mass-production game, they focused on Specialty goods with only 14 factories dedicated to mass-producing goods. Because of this Lionwind goods are some of the most highly sought-after stuff by speciality companies, individuals and whatnot.Independent Financial System
With the independent currency comes free banks that are not in any way tied to the Yorta Corporation with their influence being very much tied to the Bit. This makes them the number 1 choice for transactions done outside the Company's influence with the Royal Banking Service taking painstaking measures to ensure Yorta never creeps into their system. This also makes them a popular tax haven for Lexer-aligned factions.Culture & Lifestyle
Alicornia was once a noble society and Lionwind attempts to recreate this, While Equestria tries to live by Harmonic virtues and failed. Lionwind has done a better job living by them with a relatively harmonious society made possible after many years of difficulty and strife. Life within this country is generally peaceful with pockets of disharmony and chaos. Crime still happens in places with less development. Politics is not a huge concern for people here, the King is trusted and so long as people are getting their food and money, their not too choked up about who is running what. The population is generally more centralised around the cities with a lot of farms and outer city life existing by the cities rather than spread out across the Wilderness due to some monster problems and it generally being a good idea to live where you can seek shelter easily. The Divide between Rich and Poor is still a problem with noble society not really understanding those below them but the fact that Nobility must serve the people of the country means that while the divide is less than ideal, it isn't fatal to the stability of the society and more so creates annoying policies and a slightly insufferable and self-righteous noble culture. Holidays happen fairly frequently with harvest fairs being a huge thing for people and an opportunity to spend money and have fun.Religion & the Church
Religion in Lionwind is very important, the Church has a huge presence within Law enforcement, festivities and public life. The Church of the Goddess is the patron church as Celestial Worship was banned in 618 AD after the Theocrats lost the war. A New Church was adopted and the Clergy of the Goddess was the favoured choice at the time. These days the Church of the Goddess is a natural occurrence and the biggest church in the Country other than the Pagan faith in Gaia. The Goddess is a benevolent figure and so the Church is also benevolent meaning that religious extremism within Lionwind is an uncommon sight and is publically frowned upon. How Lionwind Reacts to Foreigners
Lionwind until 788 AD was a xenophobic state that didn't like foreigners coming into the country and occasionally this flares up every so often but generally foreigners are pretty common within Lionwind and is one of the keys to its success. Integrating culture and holidays as well as teaching other languages in school since 916 AD and again in 2333 AD after it was reversed in 1144 under King Aelwald the 2nd.Military
Lionwind is one of the few friendly nations anyone can interact with in their corner of the world. Constantly threatened by Imperialist conquest from Naqah and Elkhiem as well as the Yorta Corporation making more aggressive incursions against the country. As such, the peaceful Kingdom has always maintained partial mobilization. Using considerable funds, the Military defends the entire Kingdoms on the Sea, in the air, On land and under the land. How Armies are made
Armies are made by cities, who agree to make armies when a kIng raises a levy upon them for a war or some task.Steady as the Wind blows, Loud as she Howls
