War of the Sands

Introduction

This was is a collection of conflicts that marked the decline and collapse of various Middle Eastern states after years of turbulent conflicts a constant feed of destabilization. The Wars began in 2020, but the first state fell in 2021 with Afghanistan being the first to fall. These were the devastating climaxes of age old wars that crippled the state's ability to rebuke Imperialist influence and occupation.

The Conflict

Prelude

The War on Terrorism had already been on going for years before this era of war began. Various Western and even Local top percenters gained massive wealth off the excessive conflict in the region. This extraction of wealth is part of what created the negative feed back loop of desperation feeding radical movements and when countries like America inevitability pull out, the total capitulation of the nation states into unstable warlord regimes.   Without the ruthless extraction of wealth and people, there was chance that this would not of happened, but it is all but too late for many of the nations. The withdrawals began with Afghanistan but continued in countries like Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia and many others. Nations like CCP China could no longer keep these nations going due to internal collapse and Russia's Invasion of Ukraine crippled food supplies and all but deleted Russian financing of any of these states.    As Global Influence withdrew to new theatres and needs, thye devastation wrought by them overtook the Middle East resulting in the rapid escalation of conflict and fragmenting of just about all the states.

Deployment

In terms of deployment, Allied sides were pretty much deployed. Over the years, the two big Organizations Al-Qaeda, Taliban and ISIL rapidly gained assets and power due to a collapse of Anti Black Market Operations, a failure to control the spread of radical ideology and the collapse of economy across various states and economic weaknesses aboard.    The big 3 swiftly deployed their newly acquired weapons, ISIL for instance gaining enough M16's to challenge the frequency of AK47's.

Battlefield

The Biggest Warzones was:   1. Iraq   2. Syria   3. Jordan   4. Kuwait   5. Saudi Arabia

Conditions

There was a lot of Novel realities in this war, as it was a early warning of what the coming Global War would be like, The situation was particularly terrible for Middle Eastern armed Forces and US Forces and much of it has to do with the Pentagon and the wider strategies of the US Military. Enemies were everywhere and moved quickly, Allied forces rarely got to rest before the next battle began.   While Al-Qaeda was quite traditional to their method of fighting and their mentality, The Taliban employed facsimiles of Western Tactics which they used against overworked and exhausted militaries. ISIL was probably the worst, as they adapted a mentality of victory by any means necessary, even going so far as to Demolish mosques they deem 'heretical' and influenced by infidels.    On the Allied Command Side of things, the Pentagon promised a wide variety of things but followed through on very few of them, even abandoning dozens of Companies of US Soldiers to their death in the name of 'Strategical Interests' and failed to inform thousands of men and women that they were going to die. Allied Logistics was terrible and prevented the US military from being effective and having to depend on the air assets and militaries of already struggling countries.    Food shortages, medicine shortages and general supply shortages plagued every operation, leading to high casualties and continuous terrorist victories.

The Engagement

Engagements were often a mix of small skirmishes and major pushes with Allied forces consistently being outmanned, out gunned and out maneuvered. Many soldiers  were forced to take risky missions that was otherwise unlikely to occur, for instance members of the USMC would lose their lives trying to protect a water source, where normally a A-10 and a clean up crew would be used.    There was also a few naval engagements with pirate vessels partisan to Terrorists attacked US navel assets and managed to down two vessals due to neglect of those two vassals and general disinterest of evacuating soldiers. There was also many incidents of Blue-on-Blue with Shady Blackclad soldiers fighting and killing members of the US military to protect national interests when soldiers tried to leave or resist the government.

Outcome

Immediately after botched evacuations and withdrawals, many letters would be given to grieving families with alternative facts being given about how their family members died. New Media also complied with the Government and did not report the truth of the Pentagon's actions including many, many war crimes and a lot of abandoned soldiers and assets.

Aftermath

The Long Term effects was the rapid growth of the US military and beefing up of it's assets and a lot of propaganda about dying for your country. The Conflict helped remove various high ranking officials who disagreed with the government and consolidated the power of the Shadow Government. For the Middle east, it turned many of the countries into disorganized wastelands and total warzones for the rest of the century to come.    Resulting in hundreds of millions more deaths, both Military and Civilian.

Historical Significance

Major Warcrimes

Massive violations occurred on all sides, Terrorist forces obviously showed little restraint for the many civilians within the countries they were rapidly taking over. Burnings, hangings, beheading and chemical attacks were common with entire towns losing multiple neighborhood's worth of people. Water sources were poisoned and fields were sacked and salted.    Elected and Governmental officials also were killed with many embassies getting slaughtered in the chaos.    America did it's own Warcrimes, from abandoning thousands of people to their doom, to killing civilians, bombing civilian infrastructure, chemical warfare and assassinations of Government and elected officials. The worse of this was the deployment of MOABs on Aleppo Syria which resulted in the annihilation of the entire city and killing hundreds of US servicemen and killing a 5 star US general, including murdering multiple Syrian Army officials, thousands of Syrian soldiers and 5 whole teams of the British SAS.   The biggest causes for all of this was a rapidly deteriorating geopolitical situation and a wave of Autocratic beliefs surging to power in the US military, exaggerating what would of already been a brutal war into a outright slaughter.

Major Impacts

The War really empowered the Shadow Government and was the first hint of what WW3 would look like and the kinds of actions that would be taken by the US. The disintegration of most middle eastern states had a huge effect on Oil and Gas prices as well as sowed discord into near by Africa and South Asia, Pakistan suffering continuous wars as Afghanistan turned into a imperialist, Theocratic state.    It also is what started the process of fragmentation that resulted in multiple left over Remnants of former militaries fighting seemingly endless and brutal Conflicts without the support of their home countries.

In Literature

The War was later written about, with heavy revisionism, depicting the US Military as the sole heroes of the conflict and blamed all of the deaths on Terrorist organizations. The books also revised history about the causes of the war, simplifying it and essentially blaming Middle Eastern Countries for the whole thing claiming they 'wiped themselves out'.
Many were left directionless and did what they could to save as many people as physically possible, Homes were destroyed, cities were flattened and entire countries were torn to shreds, leaving behind a husk of what was once the world's oldest and most beautiful countries. Ravaged by reckless, greedy foreign policy and corruption of foreign nations into Dictatorships.
