Hunters

The Hunters are an elite faction of the Guild of Delvers within the city of Elysium. Specializing in the hunting of dangerous monsters in the underground, the Hunters have made a name for themselves with their specialized tools and tactics, which they hoard to their organization.

Structure

The Hunters are broken up into different houses based on different specializations. While the Hunter Houses generally get along, they tend to keep to themselves in terms of organization. They are still beholden to the rules of the Guild of Delvers, but they do hold a great deal of influence within the guild itself.     The Houses of Hunters are:

  • House of the Calling Crow: A house that focuses heavily on master/student training, and acts as an unofficial regulatory group within The Hunters.
  • House of Powdered Kegs: Masters of gunpowder weapons that in part helps to make the Hunters feared and renowned. Uses unconventional explosives and weapons that the other houses find tactless.
  • House of Bestial Embrace: A house of Hunters that seeks to emulate the strength and power of the monsters found in the underground. Considered heretical by the other houses, but their strength and successes allow them to continue to exist.
  • House of Executioners: Considered an religious sect of Radiance and the Grey Dreamers, this house of hunters are well known for bring down their quarry in one strike.
  • House of the Choir: Very little is known about this house due to their secretive nature. It is believed that they have ties to Order of Twin Fates.
  • House of Vile Bloods: Rivals of the House of Executioners. They openly embrace undeath in defiance of both the Executioners and Grey Dreamers
  • House of the Unseen Village: No longer a current house within the Hunters. All members of this house traveled to the underground and have not been seen since. Believed to have ties with an eldritch being.
  • House of the Forgotten Hunt: One of the oldest houses of the Hunters, and respected for their seniority. Has traditions dating back from the first of the delvers who explored the lower layers.
  • House of the League: Smallest of the Hunter Houses, they typically support the other houses and also keeps an eye on corruption with the houses itself.
  • House of the Defiled Hamlet: Former House of the Hunters that traveled to the underground and never returned. Rumored to still exist somewhere in the Clear Water Basin somewhere.
  • House of Cards: Hunter House that has direct and known ties to Order of Twin Fates. They act as both oracles and hunters.
  • House of Drakebloods: A house of hunters who look to emulate the dragons of the underground due to their sheer and immense power. They are also highly secretive with their methods.
  • House of Bell Bearers: House well known for their excellent traps and strange tracking methods. Most of the house has gone to the underground and has not returned.

Culture

While the culture of the Hunters can varry from house to house, they ultimately have a strong fighting prowess that makes them elite Delvers. This means that many of the citizens of Elysium highly respect the Hunters and even wish to join them when they can. Additionally, the houses are very selective in who they train and taken in.

Assets

Hunters use a wide variety of specialized tools that they take great care to keep within the Houses themselves, as it is in part of what helps to keep them an elite group. These tools include
  • Trick Weapons: Weapons that are able to assume one of two forms and switch between the two
  • Hunter Guns: Different from the standard firearms available to the public, these weapons are typically designed to wielded one handed in tandem with trick weapons.
