World Ember 2022
It is upon us again, the end of the year.
Week 1 homework - The Plan
The plan was to do NaNoWriMo, and rework / add to my pirate story here. And then highlight all the things I would like an article about and do that during World Ember.
But as with many plans, they get tossed overboard as soon as the time comes to put them into action. When I hatched this plan, I expected to be home mid/end of October. But I'm still at sea, and will be home mid November only. Which is not a huge problem, but it complicated things.
So plan B, will be plan A from the last two editions I participated in. It is to participate! and have fun with friends. That's a plan that worked excellent the last two years, and I see no reason why it shouldn't this time around.
I, Jacob-W, pledge to participate in World Ember 2022
Where will I write
Well here mostly, I presume, the pirate world of Red Sunrise. With a possible side step to other worlds when my mind feels like it.
What will I write about
Your guess is as good as mine! I write best when I'm inspired by the moment. Or if you have any requests, put them in the comments! :)
How much will I write
Well, this is a dangerous statement. I did "1 k a day" in the 2020 WE, resulting in the 25k badge, in 2021 I was at sea, and scraped together enough free time (Who needs sleep anyway?) to put 10k in. But I'm home again this year, with more world, and more experience. That 50.000 words badge is nice and shiny and luring over the horizon.
Week 2 homework - mini Meta
Mini meta, that was a scare for me, a person who didn't write a meta nor did he plan to. Why, you may ask yourself. Because I feel that is limiting to how I enjoy this hobby. I don't have a grand overarching plan for my writings. I write inspiration driven, in the moment.
Scope
Pirates, in the modern age, roaming the world for treasure. Making friends and enemies along the way. The story plays out onboard a ship (several). They sail all the oceans and visit many different ports.
Theme
Pirates adventure. I don't know what else I have to add here?
MoodInspiration
I feel that inspiration is a better title for this part.
My world is our current world with a pirate ship in it. With some alternate history. But I draw a lot of inspiration from history. Pirate/sea shanties songs. I just picked up a book about shipwrecks, and one about ship riggings. To expand my ever-growing collection of nautical books. There is bound to be something in them that will trick my brain into thinking up an article.
Alternatifly I may look at the mapvember prompts to spark something off for World Ember. Or the advent(ure) calender that was hinted on the last twitch stream.
Week 3 homework - Organization
The category system I've set up over time is still very functional to me. I'm not sure what to change about it. The miscellaneous is getting a bit big, but I don't feel there are even three articles there that could make up their own category.
Before Summer Camp I updated the Prose category. I split it into three seasons. And am tagging all articles accordingly.
The only real update I can make; is that I see I forgot to categorise this article. :P
For World Ember, I'm tagging all articles "worldember2022" again.
Week 4 homework - imagery
Most of my images I find on wikimedia commons, there is alot of historical sailing stuff on there that has the right copyright thingies to be allowed to be used.
Gathering any imagery now, before hand, is a bit silly in my case as I've not decided what to write about yet.
Good luck! 50k is a lofty goal, but I think you can do it! :D
Thank you Emy!
