Area - Ardecha Polya

Ardecha Polya are a wide open plain stretching through out much of central Ardechia and are part of the greater Heartlands region.

The name

The name ''Ardecha Polya'' directly translates to ''Red fields'' or ''Red plains'', and the name was earned after the Slaya people of Humanity invaded southern Arboria during The Great Migrations to claim the fertile temperate south for their own kin.   The migrations from the east were long and bloody, as Humanity fought the devastated Arborian Elves for every inch of land after the Cataclysm plunged the world in to a nuclear ice age. Their use of magic against the Humans made them demonise both them as well as the practice, and made them view their enemy as living devils.   Because of this, during Humanity's last push south in to modern day Ardechia, during the 3rd migration war, also known as the Masonite Crusade, the Slaya flooded these wide open fields and mercilessly slaughtered every Elf they could lay their hands on. They continued pushing west, until they reached Drakmire keep, north-east of today's Sturmgard. There, the fair lady Celeena stooped to using Dark Magic as a last desperate means of halting the enemy, which granted her great power, but drove her mad, making her devastate the invading Humans, army after army, and town after town, as she pushed east in a feral rage, hell bent on turning them all to dust, and earning herself the title of the ''Witch Queen''.   In the end, she was defeated by the prophet Mason himself, in a mighty battle of Darkness versus the Divine, which left them both incapacitated.   The Slaya have paid a high price in blood for their right to claim this land as their own, the blood of their enemy, and their own. This fact is an integral part of their history, as well as their identity, which is why they call themselves the ''Ardechi'', meaning ''the red ones''. Even today, they despise Elves, and prosecute any magic users, but this land is theirs now, and they intend to keep it pure.   Their culture group is similarly known as the ''Slaya'' people because of the migration wars, a play on the word ''Slayer''.

General Area

The Ardecha Polya are wide open fields in a large and mainly flat depression that stretch through out most of central Ardechia and is nested between three mountainous regions.   The area is mainly open grasslands, most of which are used for farming and grounds for pastures, but there are sparsely forested pockets of trees around quite often.   Towns and villages are usually chained along the major rivers, or on it's many tributaries. There is also a large highway that is well settled that leads from Razpotye in the west, to Rastina in the east. Settlements located in the heart of the plains are mainly farming villages, while those on the outer edges, at the foot of the hills, also specialise in woodcutting, quarrying, or mining.   It is the heart of a major nation in Arboria, so it is well guarded, and the surroundings are fairly safe and tame. The average beasts sometimes roam out from their homes in the dense forests of the surrounding hills, but usually don't cause too much trouble, as they avoid civilisation, and bandits are unheard of.   The people, fervent believers and followers of the Church of the Mason mainly concern themselves with the evil that is magic. Witches and warlocks is what is of their utmost concern, the curses they leave behind, the monsters they spawn, and the children they kidnap.   Vampires are rumored to prowl the area with every full moon.

Boundaries

The Ardecha Polya are a wide open plains that are mainly flat and stretch from Ranyeno and Beligrad in the north-west, south towards Aydovina and Razpotye, and wrap around the mountains of Pohorye eastwards towards Rastina.   It is an area of the Heartlands known for it's beautiful lush green grasslands with little deviation, while the flatlands themselves continue eastwards in to what is known as the Bogland, and westwards through some woodlands in to Sturmgard's Becken.
