Olkedo Session 6
General Summary
Our adventurers have tracked down those responsible for the disappearances in Cross Corners. Some prominent townsfolk have made a deal with a powerful and intelligent majimonster to protect the town from some impending doom. Their end of the bargain involves making blood sacrifices to the monster. The adventurers defeat the cultists and capture the intelligent majimonster. When they capture the majimonster, all intelligence seems to leave it and it is no longer able to speak.
Detailed Summary
In a cave outside of the town of Cross Corners at the height of the Thrice Full Moon , Brick, Toshi Ryoko, Nieve Powell, and Jebedaiah Bateman confront the cultists. Evelyn Delacroix summons a Ghostlight and a Torrow, Lieutenant Mark Coleson an Automatalos and a Bihrrage, and Laverne Castellani a Fogmingo and a Mercurious. A vigorous battle ensues but the adventuring party are eventually victorious. After they defeat the cultists, Evelyn shouts, “You fools! You have no idea what you’ve done!” They hear a rumbling from further in the cave. A cunning and powerful Majimonster with red skin, goat horns, and walking on two goat legs emerges into the chamber. It must be Scratch! In a deep rumbling voice it says, “You know the price for failing me.” It then proceeds to take the rest of Evelyn's arm, the rest of Laverne’s leg, and Coleson’s other eye by magical means. “And now to deal with you, intruders!” A long epic battle ensues with the Davvo called Scratch. They end up capturing the monster. After binding the monster they notice that it doesn’t talk anymore. Brick and Nieve feel like some connection was severed when it was caught. Nieve has a moment of enhanced intuition to notice this (Mystery Condition). Evelyn and Laverne have bled out on the floor by this point so the only cultist left to talk to is Coleson. Jebedaiah searches Evelyn and Laverne and finds 600 suls, 2 empty drajules, and a pouch of various herbs. They then confront Coleson, who is very surprised and upset that Scratch was able to be bound. He says that Scratch was supposed to be the most powerful Majimonster and he was supposed to protect them. They ask, from what? He says that Evelyn sensed something dangerous coming. She thought they needed some extra protection to hold it at bay. He explains that Evelyn started having visions about something bad happening that would affect all of Rathana. She discovered the talking Majimonster and made a deal with it to protect Cross Corners from the dark days ahead. Evelyn sacrificed her pinkie, Coleson an eye, and Laverne a toe. In exchange, Scratch kept other Majimonsters away from town and told them about various spells and rituals. They ask what possessions Coleson has on him. Coleson, being completely at their mercy, gives them 100 suls and his sword. Remembering that Bihrrage was one of the Majimonsters that Isidora Blackwood told them could learn to teleport and that they could use it to gain the reward described in A Flier from Fygmal, the party members are interested in getting Coleson's Majimonsters too. But they must be willingly given by Coleson in order to be used. Brick negotiates a deal with Coleson. Coleson agrees that he will willingly give them his two Majimonsters, if they will just take him back to town and turn him in to Gabe Tanner, and not kill him. They agree and take him back to town. Coleson confesses to Gabe that he and the others are responsible for the disappearances, and tells him everything. As Gabe starts hauling him away to the dungeons, Coleson hands Brick his drajules. They go back to Evelyn’s where Jebedaiah steals all of Evelyn’s remaining silverware.Rewards Granted
