Thrice Full Moon

There is only one night a year when the Three Moons of Rathana are full at the same time. This typically occurs in the middle of autumn. On this night, Majimonsters become even stronger and more devious than usual. It is a very dangerous time and even the most skilled Binders typically don't venture outside of their settlements on this night. The moons seem to have a magic amplifying effect, and ancient Maji artifacts that have been dead for centuries have been known to come alive on this night. It is a night filled with strange, mystical, and dangerous occurrences.   (The Thrice Full Moon uses rules from the Monsters' Night supplements for the Majimonsters roleplaying game.)

Observance

Most people take shelter within their city walls on this night, but there are many local traditions associated with this cosmic occurrence, as well. For example, the people of Faversham have their children dress up as monsters and go door to door to receive sweets. This tradition is meant to reduce the stress and tension of the Thrice Full Moon for the children.   There are many traditions in this vein, meant to reduce the dread and terror of the night. In Olkedo they have an annual popcorn festival on this night, and in Croatoan people make elaborate carvings on gourds to give them something to do while they wait for morning.   Not all traditions are meant to comfort on this night, for in some places they use this night as a proving ritual. They send teams of young Binders out on this night to Bind their first Majimonster caught away from the watchful eyes of their tutors, to prove they are truly ready for the responsibilities of being a Binder.
