Madgar

Faction Description   Madgarians are a very rough and tough people, who rely on each other and their clans rather than seek help from outsiders. The land is snow covered for most of the year except for the points furthest south. Their nation also takes a lot of influence from the orcish tribes that exist to the northwest, in land that is notionally controlled by Madgar. Madgarians are known for their brutality in battle, their warriors seen as brutish hulking strong men covered in furs, often called the wild-men of the North. They are also known for their powerful druidic shawmen, casting spells and using powers that those further south can scarcely comprehend.   The nation itself is made up of a mixture of humans, dwarves (called north dwarves or Madgarian dwarves), orcs, and a few goliaths. There are also elves who first arrived as refugees a few hundred years ago, but they mostly keep to their own city and do not travel the rest of the nation much.   Important NPC’s   Over all Leader   Lieutenant/second   Local leaders   Main Party Contact   Faction belief/dogma   Most worship Chislev, Kiri-Jolith, and Habbakuk. Additionally, the dwarves and elves in the region worship Reorx.   They hold personal strength in high esteem, but also believe strongly in loyalty and community, a necessity when surviving in these harsh environments. A betrayal of community is the greatest transgression one can make.   Faction strength and influence   They are respected and feared for their military strength and brutal ways of battle. They also control a sizable navy, and are some of the best sailors on the continent. They have plenty of natural resources pulled up by the dwarves, but food can sometimes become a scarcity and they rely on the production of the southern nations to keep them through the winter.   Other NPC’s in faction   Other Notes

Friendly

Madgar

Talons

These two factions get along very well. The Madgarians believe that the Talons are conducise to their way of life and thinking. They appreciate the brutal honesty its members portray, and though they do not follow the same teachings or beliefs, the Talons show the upmost respect for their ways and laws. More than that, the Talons are useful and talented monster hunters, which can be a large problem on the frontier. Therefore Madgar is happy to host and supply the Bears of the North, and Talons traveling through can expect to find unusually warm welcomes from the citizens of these cities.

Mutual Respect

Gladria

Madgar

Gladrians and Madgarians have a mutual respect of strength for each other, especially when considering military might. The two nations get along, Gladrian provides much of Madgar's winter food provisions, and Madgar increases Gladrians wealth with North Dwarven silver and jewels. However the two have points of contention over the cities on the northern coast, where both nations hold influence, but at the moment contention is all it is.

No Diplomatic relations

The Madgar and dragonborn have not had many interactions to speak of to affect their relationship.

Un-Friendly

Ormur

Madgar

Ormur and Madgar are ideologically opposed, neither side seeing much benefit in conversation with the other. Ormur believes the Madgarians to be a primitive and culturally backwards bunch, who rely far too much on brute strength and superstitions. For their part Madgar believes the Ormur's to be an arrogant and untrustworthy lot, who rely on trickery, double speak, and look down on others that they perceive to be below them.

No Diplomatic relations

Madgar believes the mages of Cintras to be too nosy and clever for their own good. They have entertained a few diplomatic delegations, but found the mages prideful, arrogant and self important. Further more they were very dismissive of the Madgarian culture, beliefs, and shawmen magics, instead insisting that Madgar should instead convert to their way of thinking. Obviously, this did not go well, and there is a distinct distaste for mages and the southern lifestyle in Madgarian culture today.
