Gladria

Faction Description   Gladria is a powerful nation of honor bound warriors, a cultural combination of human ambition and perseverance with dwarven stubbornness and loyalty. It's cities are beautiful but practical, heavily influenced by South Dwarvish architecture. They have a large and highly trained military, with a core of powerful clerics devoted to the local gods, and paladins sworn to the king and protection of Gladrian.   Gladria is very wealthy, both because many of its warriors are hired elsewhere for extra protection, but also because of the amount of resources pulled from the dwarven mines and halfling fields.   Ethnically they are made up of humans, halflings and dwarves, with the occasional wood elf or gnome.   Important NPC’s   Over all Leader- King Strauss II   Paladin Kathil- the main party contact. She has braided white hair and soft amber eyes, and a wide mouth. She wears plate mail and wields a two-handed sword. Kathil serveed in the Ashen Mountains against the Somicks for a time, and is now in the reserves leading a delegation traveling the land, talking to the people and visiting other nations. Her family was killed in a dragon attack when she was very young, which is what drove her to service, and she is secretly still looking for the chance to kill the ancient green dragon of Murkwood. (use Gladrian Paladin Stats )   Faction belief/dogma   Gladria believes in strength, honor, devotion and loyalty. They highly value prowess in combat, but there is an emphasis that everyone has their own role and must do their part, whether that is the knights in Hansbar Pass, the politicians in the capital, or the farmers in the golden plains. Because of this, it is very infrequent, and though not illegal, frowned upon for someone to try and change their station or role in society.   Above all, Gladrians value loyalty, borrowing heavily from the dwarven clan culture. Betrayals, thievery, and dishonesty of any kind is punished harshly, increasing exponentially based on how close the victim was.   They hold several good aligned gods in high esteem, including Kiri- Jolith, Majere, Mishkale, Solinari, and an extra emphasis placed on Paladine. The southern dwarves of the region also worship their patron god Sirrion and Reorx.   Faction strength and influence   They have a very strong and numerous military. Each village has an abnormally large guard, and paladin's are numerous across the ranks in positions of status. Some are even given positions of political power, or baronies over the smaller villages.   Other NPC’s in faction   Other Notes

Talons
60
The Talons like the Gladrians, finding their people decent and hard working despite their superstitious nature. The Gladrian nobility and leaders find the Talons useful, especially in dealing with monsters that leak in from the south, but resent the Talons reluctance to help in the boarder disputes. Gladrian townsfolk are less enthusiastic about entertaining Talons, and most are fearful of the dark monster hunters. That said, when there is need of a monster hunter a Talon can expect to find coin or at least a warm bed when in Gladrian towns, they just have to be mindful not to overstay their welcome.

Mutual Respect

Madgar

Gladrians and Madgarians have a mutual respect of strength for each other, especially when considering military might. The two nations get along, Gladrian provides much of Madgar's winter food provisions, and Madgar increases Gladrians wealth with North Dwarven silver and jewels. However the two have points of contention over the cities on the northern coast, where both nations hold influence, but at the moment contention is all it is.

Competitors

Ormur

Ormur and Gladria have a competitive relationship. Ormur counts on Gladria to suppliment their army with numbers when needed, and Gladria has found Orur's battle mages to be invaluble in fighting the Somicks of the South. However they are reluctent partners, with nither much likeling the other. Gladria finds Omurs to be arrogant, and detest their supirior mindset and attitude. Ormur finds Gladrians to be simple minded and finaticly devot beyond reason.  On top of this, both nations have contesting influence over Antris, Hornkin, and Sarris, with both nations attempting to post their own guards and collect resources from the cities.

Tolerated

Gladria and the Mages of Cintras have a mutual respect for the others abilities, but immensely dislike each other. Gladria hosts a mage ambassador and listens to their council, but does not hang on every word and often disregard their advice. They also are wary of the mages subtle manipulations, and dislike the amount of sway and influence they hold in Ormur and elsewhere.  The mages dislike the contempt the Gladrians seem to hold for them, and how often they disregard their council in favor of that of their own thick headed generals and penny pinching coin counters.

Reluctant Respect

Ormur
30
Gladrian and Ormur has a tenuous relationship of mutual need. Ormur depends on Gladrian wealth and raw minerals to fuel the learning and magic they need to further their studies, and Gladria has found Ormur battle mages to be invaluble in keeping back the Somicks. However despite their  cooperation, neither side lieks the other much. Gladria finds Ormurs boring, arrogant, and dislike their superiority complexe. Ormur finds the Gladrians thick headed, stubborn, and varying degrees of zelots.  In addition, there is contention over the nations boarder, where both lay claim to and have influence over Antris, Visil and Hornkin.

No Diplomatic relations

The gladrians and dragonborn have not had many interactions to speak of to affect their relationship.
