Les Marais Duluk
Overview
Spanning the northern half of the eastern continent of Qaderus lies Les Marais Duluk which is one of the four states of the nation of Androtia. Les Marais Duluk is largely swamplands with some mountains to the north and forests to the east. Desmarais is the capital city and is home to the House Desmarais who are the ruling Lords of Les Marais Duluk. House Desmarais is currently headed by Jacques Desmarais during Fabien Raphael Justice Desmarais's mysterious absence. Les Marais Duluk reach extends to the north and past the border town of Rochefort becomes the nation of Corin. To the east, north of the Cambrai Foret are passes into the mountains of Mont Krognar. To the west is the coast and with it, the quiet portside town of Port Severin .Demographics
Les Marais Duluk largely consists of humans. Around 800 ADF, after a dispute with the Desauveterre these humans split off and headed north to stake their own claim. Few remember what the dispute was even about as it was so long ago, and relations have since mended. Though the two states are not exactly close friends, Orcs from Mont Krognar do often make their way into Les Marais Duluk for trading. Desmarais even has district of Orcs from Krognar who reside there permanently. Very few Elves make it this north, so far away from their homeland of Silvanesti, but small pockets of Elves do reside here as well. Dwarves migrated from The Apsulian Sea and have occupied the mountainous areas near Mont Valenciennes and Mont Saumur .
Government
The government in Les Marais Duluk is run primarily by the current Baron of House Desmarais. Androtia is a Feudalist nation with a King and lesser lords running the four states. House Desmarais in recent years has been known for being extremely heavy handed with dishing out justice and punishment to those who step out of line. Fabien Raphael Justice Desmarais is known for being a fairly ruthless leader but did lose some of his reputation when he had an affair with Gleesha Vuilta Krognar who then gave birth to Fabien's bastard, half-orc son Jean Gustav Krognar Desmarais. Fabien's wife Vivienne Odette Desmarais left him after the affair and has been missing ever since. Les Marais Duluk is known for it's wealth as the giant alligator skins and other natural swamp resources fetch high prices in markets like Port Androt. Taxation is high on the citizens, although most enjoy a fairly high quality of life, at least in Desmarais.
Defences
Rochefort to the North is a major military base within Les Marais Duluk with the rest of the army being located typically in Desmarais or traveling and patrolling the roads between Cambrai Foret and Longwy Foret. The military under House Desmarais is not as large as the main Androtian Military and is mostly used for protecting tradesmen as they travel the somewhat treacherous path between the two states.
Infrastructure
To the north is Rochefort, a military border base defending the border between Les Marais Duluk and Corin. South of that is the town of Saumur which lies in the shadow of Mont Saumur and Mont Valenciennes. To the east of the mountains lies Solesmes, a small village on the border of Mont Krognar. Les Marais Severin sits to the west of Saumur and occupies a large area of the center of Les Marais Duluk. Desmarais, the capital city sits on the outskirts of Les Marais Severin and pulls its resources from its lush wetlands. Along the coast is the portside town of Port Severin which serves as a trading point for the region. Along the road down towards Cote D'Prue are two small towns, Wholugiere and Dur le Tenu. Les Marais Henri lies to the south along with the swamp village of Tubaganne. Les Marais Uzul lies to the East right up against the Cambrai Foret.

History
Les Marais Duluk was founded when some of the Desauveterre Humans split off from Cote D'Prue over a disagreement over land ownership. They set north to the largely unexplored swamplands and managed to tame the area forming the state of Les Marais Duluk. Soon after a ruling family House Desmarais was founded and have been in power ever since. They erected the city of Desmarais and began a lucrative trading business selling giant alligator skins, mushrooms, truffles, and other rarities of the wetlands. The people of Les Marais Duluk are known for their fine taste, respect for property laws and extremely thick accents.
Geography
Les Marais Duluk has a rocky shoreline, consistent with much of Androtia. Swamps and wetlands occupy most of the space with mountains to the north and the Cambrai Foret to the east. Some rolling fields exist towards the center of the region inbetween the three major wetlands, Les Marais Henri Les Marais Severin and Les Marais Uzul.
