The Magistrate

Perhaps the oldest empire that Prospero has ever known. The Magistrates was founded as an empire of law above all else. Where freedom, order, and equality would protect all people of the great empire, bound by an eternal code of law, The Codex Magistratus. It was penned by the first Phoenix Emperor during the Age of Shadows and its guiding words would help them survive that dark age and grow into a force the could not only conquer the world but could rule the world effectively as it could. Today much of the world wave the banner of the Magistrate and many believe that is shall be the empire that breaks the Cycle and ushers forth the Eternal Empire.

Structure

The Phoenix Emperor rests at the top of the imperial hierarchy. The Emperor also holds the traditional role of King of Akkadia. The two positions are synonymous to most although there have been times when they have not been held by the same person.   Below the Emperor rest the numerous leaders of the different imperial orders such as the Grand Master of the Templar, the Arcanus Magnus, the Witch-Finder General, and the Métier Regent and who make up the ruler's council. These figures, for example, represent the head of the military, arcane matters, and socio-economic matters to name a few.   Next comes the members of Potentate Houses who make by the legislative body of the Magistrate, every member is chosen as a representative of their country and to assure all of mankind has its say. Each country of the empire although has their own sovereigns and rulers that are meant to enforce its laws. The Potentate Houses/Senate is rarely filled by the leaders of the countries they represent but rather chosen representatives such as second sons who shan't inherit their nations titles or chosen representatives from countries without traditional nobility.   From here comes the importance of the rule of figures Arcanus Magnus, who manages to the Colleges of Magi and the Chambers of Song which allows for information cross across the length of the empire in minutes at most so long as another chamber exists in the region. The local Magi College will then transmit the order or acquire the needed information from local leadership. This allows for the empire to quickly learn of problems and mobilize all the resources needed to address the problems as they appear. This includes military matters, trade issues, famine, and sickness.   On a country to country bases little changes for nations under the rule of the Magistrate from before they were ruled. While the College of Magi will bring direct orders to any country from the ruling bodies of the empire, nations and their traditional leaders are expected to maintain rule as they would without the Magistrate. The nation's traditional governments acting as essentially governers.

Public Agenda

The Magistrate looks to full fill the laws that have protected mankind from falling into the dark age. It believes that only it can keep the world from falling into the Age of Ash, by maintaining order and law.

Assets

Over half of the world rests under the sway of The Magistrate with dozens of armies of men and mages from across the world. They have numbers of resources that are without a match to the rest of the world. This can be debated though as its resources are scattered across hundreds of nations each which guard their secrets even from the Empire.

History

Founded on the blood of great men and a mix of luck, perhaps even the will of the gods. One must though emphasis the luck.   Originally founded as the youngling City State of Arcadia. It would begin to grow stronger as it united surrounding city-states into a singular nation thanks to the wars that enthralled Arcadia during the age of shadows. These military campaigns largely involving the numerous free cities of the Neveah region. The Nation of Arcadia would find itself profiting off of and taking part in large parts of these conflicts.   It would eventually grow to power until the War of Three Beasts which saw the growing union of nations officially claim to the title of Empire with the other claimants having fallen. It though has been the slowest and most tedious of expansions of an empire ever recorded. It has had one of the longest lives of remembered empires.
