    First Tourist in Space
    Technological achievement

The first person is launched into space without years of specialized training. Space tourism is accessible to very few people at first, but paves the way for the large scale passenger spaceflight of today.

    Artemis Base is Established
    Founding

The first permanent human presence on the surface of another celestial body is established near the lunar south pole, where ice is mined and converted into rocket fuel, which is then brought to orbit. This refueling post higher up in the gravity well enables larger vessels to depart to other planets, as is necessary for crewed interplanetary missions.

    Nadezhda Departs
    Population Migration / Travel

The generational colony ship Nadezhda departs for Alpha Centauri. It is the largest and most complex Spacecraft constructed to date. Aboard are 3856 hopeful pioneers setting out for the decades long journey, knowing well that most of them will not live to see the arrival.

    Further Colonists Depart
    Population Migration / Travel

Over the next decades following the Nadezhda's departure, many more people set out for Alpha Centauri, hoping to build a new life for their families. The migration stops once the Medusa Drive development starts, as no one wants to embark on a thirty year journey when a technological breakthrough seems imminent.

    The Terpenie Tragedy
    Disaster / Destruction

As the Terpenie, a Nadezhda class colony ship, is aerobraking over the planet Rigil Kentaurus c, faulty heat shielding leads to structural failure in reactor pod 3. Rapid decompression kills 37 technical staff. The reactor control is heavily damaged and the core going into meltdown. Aviam Sharov, an off-duty engineer, manages to manually insert the control rods and save the ship, but recieves a lethal dosis of radiation in the span of minutes. The planet will later be named Sharov's World to honor her sacrifice.
