The Third Magic War of Abeon

 INTRODUCTION

Toward the end of Seolos 4781, tensions finally broke between the Confederation of Traelec and the waning Archian Empire. The war began with the Battle of Red Flags- a fierce series of skirmishes in the southern half of Kristar Province between Lady Catelyn Meyer’s Kristonian forces and Shadow King Sephtis’ Archian infantry. The battle is noted as the first of what later became known as ‘The Third Magic War of Abeon’.

 THE BATTLE OF RED FIELDS

An Archian Infantry force of 45k strong attacked Kristar City in Seolos of 4781. Led by the thought-dead Archian Emperor, Sephtis, the Archian’s began a brutal siege across four fronts- the Battle of Red Fields. Each of the four battles features mighty commanders on both sides, including Neville Meyer, Ellimiah Allymar, Jax Arden, Amon Elymas, Van the Warden, and three of the Holyfyre Seven. The battles severely weakened Sephtis’ army- even resulting in his own death at the hands of Gwen Winslow. But the Archian’s achieved victory in Octivii, taking the important city of Kristar.

 THE WAR IN THE EAST

The war in the east began much earlier than 4781. The Archian political territory of Ardune had been plotting for years in advance, a fight they had taken up at the outset of the nation’s birth in 3709. The King, Kerian VI, ancestor of the great Kerian I, mounted a daring naval assault on the Archian fortress city of Kornon, managing to take it in an immensely surprising victory, as reported by Svynhyde of Ecsaev. From there, Kerian’s forces began to raze Central and Northern Archia to the ground, pillaging every village on the road to Ceenar, the Archian Capital. He was joined by Archian traitor Jerymiuh Wollard, who had taken control of the Hephley army. His army reached 60 thousand strong at the end of Seolos- just when he received word that Sephtis and a majority of the army had been slain in Traelec at the Siege of Kristar. Kerian swiftly marched and captured Ceenar, but unknowingly let Emile Bassote slip through his fingers- a mistake that would later cost him his life.

 EMILE'S WAR

The war in the north only last 6-10 months, but the bloodshed in the south had only just begun. With Emile of Ceenar loose and dangerous, Crelot VIII of the Tsondalian Free Empire invaded southern Archia- hoping to sieze unified terriotry as Christophe II had done after the fall of The Ithrium Empire in the 38th century. Emile and her archian rebels fought back. Hard. Crelot and his arvenon were devasted, handed defeat after defeat by the pesky Archian army. Luckily for Tsonlar, Emile became distracted by the looming Ardune threat in the north, and was forced fight in Clifsby by Kerian Montiel. In 4783, Emile pressured Crelot into signing a treaty, allowing her to push Kerian back to the Cordal Coast. However, in 4791, Crelot once again invaded the south via Ingerford, and the two rulers fought again. In a fateful battle in the fields surrounding Ingerford, Emile slew Crelot, but herself was captured. Emile was tried and executed in 4793, burned at the stake. Emile's death served as the finality of the bloody Abeonic war.

 REPERCUSSIONS

The world was forever changed by the events of the Third Magic War of Abeon. The Ardune and Grinalia Kingdoms rose to prominence, dominating the political scene in Abeon for the next dozen centuries. The infamous and thought-invincible Archian Empire collapsed into ruin, forever disbanded and shaking the core of middleton. The Confederation of Traelec failed, later to become the Kingdom of Traelec. Although cosmic balance was not achieved, the final two Keeper of Kornon- Sephtis and Blaze Axton were killed, creating a sense of peace from decomancy. Temporarily.
THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR

Some historians debate the Seolos invasion of Kristar as the true beginning of the war. The Knights of Ardune attacked the port-city of Kornon in early Animatos of 4781- which some believe to be the real reason behind Sephtis' rushed and unplanned invasion of Traelec. Regardless of when or why the war truly began, Ardune established its dominance quickly and showed the glaring weakness in the fledging Archian Empire: the unrest of the common people.
