King Sephtis Erikk Elymas, son of Ignis II

INTRODUCTION

Sephtis Erikk Elymas was the only son of Ignis II, and became the 45th King of The Archian Empire in 4517 4p. He is commonly credited with the most oppresive reign of any Archian Emperor, which helped to weaken it to its ultimate downfall in 4793 5p. Sephtis was not totally to blame, however; his brother Amon helped to destabalize the southern border with blundered assualts on Tsondalian strongholds in Ingerford and the Jade Expanse. However, his corruption in decomancy helped historians to place him among the evilest of rulers perhaps in all of Abeonic History, even into the future.

EARLY LIFE

Sephtis was the second oldest of four children of Ignis II. His early life was troubled. His older sister, Beautefert, was raped and murdered by his cousin Emeric in 4459 4p. Her father, Ignis II, sought to kill his nephew, but was ultimately stopped by his brother, Emeric. Sephtis was present when his Uncle Emeric murdered his father, and usurped the throne from his family. Emeric ascended the throne in 4460, becoming Emeric III. With his twin brothers, Ignis and Amon, Septhis fled to the Daines Mountians at just 19 years old. Naturally, Emeric unceasingly hunted the three brothers, being the only remaining threats to the Archian Throne. For seventeen years, Sephtis, Amon, and Ignis hid in the mountains, eluding their uncle's minions.

RECLAIMING THE THRONE

By 4477 4p, Sephtis had gathered a large following, including the Eastkorn Rangers, a collective of zealots who acted as Sephtis' assassins. This same ragtag group would later become The Delta Rangers in 4688. At this point, Emeric's rule was widely disliked, and people began hearing rumors of a true king living in exile in the north. In 4490, Sephtis and Amon established an outpost in the Daines Mountains to intercept trade routes and impose taxes- this outpost would later be built into a city called Kristar. Sephtis sent an army of 2900 strong to take the captial city of Ceenar from Emeric III. The army was wiped out by a desert storm while crossing in 4499, and Sephtis was forced back into exile further north. Discouraged and without an army, Sephtis sent his two younger brothers east to Adorea to study war so they could fight with him, while also ensuring their safety. He began a rebellion of the north in 4514, gathering an army of farmers and miners in Kristar. Once he had sufficient attention from his uncle, Sephtis led an army of 12000 unexpierenced soldiers across the wastelands in a staggering four days! He caught Emeric by surprise, and retook the capital in late 4514. He declared himself king, but was not officially recognized by the people until the death of Emeric III in 4517 during a battle in the Dark Vale.

WARS

Sephtis's reign was oppresive and war-ridden. His troubles multiplied when The Confederation of Fondalar formed from the cities in the Northern Penninsula and declared themselves free from Archian rule. In 4631 4p, the Fondalian forces led by Claxton Pollard won major victories at Westeron and Cizmark, forcing Sephtis to sign a ceasefire, ackowledging the Confederation's independance. With the loss of valuable trade routes and resources in the north, and tensions rising in their other colony The Kingdom of Ardune, Sephtis became reculsive and destitute. Amon became a pseudo ruler, while Sephtis was never seen in the public eye. It was during this time, that Sephtis became possessed by the spirit of The Keeper of Darkness, the greatest of the five arch-demons of Kor'non. Sephtis, under the influence of the demonic presence, led an invasion of Fondalar in 4781, following The Fondalian Civil War. He was slain by Gwendolyn Winslow during The Third Magic War of Abeon and was left unburied in the wastelands. The hosue of Elymas ended with Sephtis.

FAMILY

Sephtis married an Arvenon, despite the tradition of kings. His wife was barren and he was childless through her. Her name has been lost to time, and no other wife is mentioned by historians.
