The Great Northern Revolution
INTRODUCTION
The Great Northern Revolution was the second Traelecii revolt, and more well known because of its success and impact on Abeon. The primary goal of the revolution was for the northern penninsula, ruled tyrannically by the Archian overlord Sephtis, to throw off its shackles and become independant from the empire. At this point, the Archian's were the most powerful military in Abeon, and many believed they could not be defeated- let alone by a ragtag group of civillian militias. The Revolution proved the weakness in the Archian military and started the exponintial decline of the nation.
FIRST TENSIONS
Tensions rose between the north and south of Archia in 4579 4p, when the island state of Cizmark thrust off Sephtis as their ruler, opting to create a kind of 'free state' in the north. The Archian Army swiftly sailed through the West Seas and battered the city during a brutal siege in 4583. Notably, a certain Commander Bramwell managed to escape the onslaught, fleeing to Romma Wood. It was here that all survivors of the first rebellion hid until Sephtis' army had returned to the mainland. The rebellion was crushed completely in 4578, and Sephtis left a contingent of men in Northsward to ensure another uprising would not happen. These men would eventually return to middleton at the beginning of the 47th century, allowing the patient and growing rebellion to retake the island city without any bloodshed.
THE NORTH REVOLTS AGAIN
In 4617, an important Archian commander, Joseff Oldrik, defected and rescued a hero of the first rebellion, Claxton Pollard, from execution by his father. The Trouffenese lumberjack proved vital in the previous revolution and Oldrik knew he could become a great commander during a future revolt. In Jylon of 4630, the rebellion met again in Romma Wood. Four main leaders emerged- Claxton Pollard, Derrick Bramwell, Joseff Oldrik, and a clever young captain, John Dolion. Pollard and a small contingent of soldiers would retake Trouffen from his father, while Oldrik and Bramwell retook Northsward and Cizmark. Oldrik would march east and secure Adorea. In simultaineous succession, the three pronged revolt worked brilliantly. By Atember's end, all three regions were firmly controlled by the revolutionaries. But Silvercrest marked a turning point. An Archian army led by Sephtis himself marched upon Kristar and Trouffen, descively seizing control of both.
THE BATTLE OF WESTERON
By the end of 4630, the revolution was reeling and had retreated all the way back to the Brondan River. However, the harsh cold of silvercrest had set in at Romma, and Sephtis's troops were entirely unprepared. Claxton and a group of some 2000 infantry boldly moved to attack the sheltered and weak Archian camp- a move which directly defied orders from General Oldrik. In what later became known as the battle of Westeron, Pollard and his men utterly destroyed Sephtis' army, forcing them all the way back to Kristar. Unbeknownst to them, Oldrik had at the same time, defeated the eastern Archian army, leaving Sephtis completely devoid of reinforcements. After the Archians received word that the second army was retreating, Sephtis reached out to Pollard to begin truce talks. However, Pollard and his legendary army had already set sail for Cizmark, to retake the city once again from Archian control. Pollard took the city in daring fashion, just before Bramwell and Dolion had Sephtis sign unmerciful peace terms. The north had not only won indepnedence from their overlords- they had just routed the strongest empire in Abeon. Shortly after the ceasefire, The Confederation of Traelec was formed and a power struggle began. Peace finally set in after The Assassination of Claxton Pollard in 4644. Sephtis was angered and defenseless, vowing to retake the coveted north penninsula. He tried to do so during The Third Magic War of Abeon, but ultimately was stopped at Shoreson by a coallition of forces.
