Derrick Bramwell
Chancellor Derrick Bramwell
INTRODUCTION
Derrick Bramwell was the first and only Lord of Cizmark in the The Confederation of Traelec. He served as Grand Chancellor of the council of Tralec 135 years of the 150 years he ruled as Lord, presiding over four different variations of Lordship. Bramwell did not fight in the The Fondalian Civil War or The Third Magic War of Abeon, choosing to abstain from violence on account of his guilt in the assassination of Claxton Pollard. Bramwell was beheaded in the first month of 4793
EARLY LIFE
Derrick was born the son of Rupus and Agatha Bramwell, a pair of poor farmers in the little city of L'ars. Derrick was poor and enjoyed little luxury in his childhood, but being a citizen of the Free Island of Cizmark, he did have a great deal of freedom. Rupus trained his son to not resort to violence, but rather taught him the arts of rhetoric and judicial wisdom. Despite his father's want for his future, Derrick still trained as a swordsman and knifer under the guidance of a young captain, and became the best of Lord Oldrik's assassins.
THE FIRST TRALECII REBELLION
In 4579 4p, tensions had reached a boiling point between northern and southern regions of the Archian Empire. Derrick found his place as a lieutenant commander of the Cizmark Army, fighting against the great army of Sephtis, tyrannical emperor of Archia. He fought in many notable battles, but ultimately the rebellion failed, and all the freedoms he enjoyed in Cizmark were stripped. Derrick, being a primary perpetrator of the rebellion, was forced to flee southward, to Romma Wood. There, the leaders of the first rebellion met in secret, gathering strength to try again. It was during this time that the young commander met Claxton Pollard the lumberjack and warrior.
THE TRUE REVOLUTION
In 4630, Lord Oldrik of Cizmark finally decided it was time to move on the Northern Penninsula and retake Cizmark. Claxton Pollard was sent to overtake his home city of Trouffen; Captain Dolion was sent to Adorea to take the eastern border; and Bramwell marched with Oldrik to retake Cizmark. During the land assault, Claxton managed to sail his navy into the port of Cizmark and take the city from the inside. Bramwell fought in the Battle of Rocky Glen as well, but his most notable preformance was in the taking of Cizmark City. Even after the Archian Empire sued for peace in 4631, the revolution continued. Some historians note that the revolution began when Archia left the war. Bramwell, Oldrik, Dolion, and Pollard then began a discussion on the most fair terms of government over the whole penninsula. Choas reigned over the terriory for months, and fear began to take hold that Sephtis and the Archian infantry would return to conquer the lands. Claxton eventually left participation of the leaders, seeking to reunite his torn city of Trouffen. The other three lords feared that the young hero was too popular, and so, a plan was hatched. On a dreadful Seolos night in 4644, Captain John Dolion was sent to assassinate Pollard and his family. He was foiled by two mericful and a dwarf, but still managed to mangle and wound Pollard, letting his wife and baby son escape. Bramwell was never aware of the failure.
THE CONFEDERATION
In Firsteli of 4645, The Confederation of Traelec was established in the northern penninsula, with Bramwell taking the role of Chief Lord of Cizmark, or Chancellor as it later became known. Dolion took office in Adorea, and Oldrik exiled himself to Northsward to rule. The ruined fortress of Kristar was turned into a city, and one of the commanders, Egar Wulfson, was appointed as its Lord. Trouffen was left alone, but later appointed its own lord in 4647. Bramwell sought first for wisdom, leading the young nation to strengthen itself and become a formidable opponent to Archia, both militarily and politically. But as he grew older, Derrick enriched himself through unfair laws and taxes.
THE FALL OF TRAELEC
In 4781, Lord Jaxson Arden of Trouffen led the Riship Campaign, which ultimately resulted in the fall of the confederation. When John Dolion was executed by Neville Meyer in late 4781, the secrets of Claxton Pollard's botched assassination were revealed, and Bramwell was promptly removed from office and sent to a Trouffenese dungeon in Riship. The once great lord and commander spent his final twelve years in prison, before being executed for High Treason in 4793. Bramwell oversaw the beginning and end of Traelec, but he unintentionally was the cause of its loss through his oversight of Dolion and unyielding greed.
