The Assassination of Claxton Pollard

 THE ASSASSINATION 

 At the end of The Great Northern Revolution, the power void in Traelec was outstanding. Chaos and anarchy reighned. Yet, so did the corruption of those who prospected to rule. On a dark day in Seolos, under directions of Derrick Bramwell, Lieutenant John Dolion traveled to Trouffen by the black market road. His orders: kill the legendary and much beloved leader of the city, Claxton Pollard. Why? Because Claxton was becoming too popular, and Derrick feared his emergence as the next King of the northern region. Just before daybreak, Dolion and three other assassins snuck into the sleeping quarters of Pollard and his wife and infant son. Unbeknownst to them, waiting at the door were two amariatic warlocks, Van the Warden and Gu'ure the Boldour, as well as a goldhammer dwarf, Lee Randahle. Dolion brutally mangled Claxton, taking out all his anger on the lord, but the barely alive lord managed to fight off his attacker and signal the guards at the door. John jumped out the window, and took on Van in combat. The other two Pollard's were untouched by the assassins, and watched as the dwarf hacked the would-be murderers into pieces. The entire scene was brutal and horrific, but the salvation of the young boy led to the downfall of all his fathers enemies. Dolion managed to escape, but not before Van had revealed his identity. However, there was not evidence to indict him of the crime, and thus Van's pleas fell on deaf ears.
