Van the Warden
INTRODUCTION
Van Ward is the youngest member of the Merciful, a group of Loscin's angel warriors who he sent to Abeon to fend off the threat of Decomancy. Although there are some active merciful on the other continents, none are as active in warfare and fighting during the 4th period as Van Ward. His persona, Evander Ward, is his human form, the body in which he came from the divine plain to Abeon. The exact date he came from the heavens is unknown, but he is estimated to have arrived sometime during the year 4650. Van is the merciful the deity Loscin sent to protect Fondalar from corruption, and his sole mission to hunt and destroy reapers in the area. Many believe Van to have failed his duty, but after the end of the Third Magic War, all warlocks were sent back to their respective lands, ultimately accomplishing the mission of all merciful- cosmic balance.
FIRST APPEARANCE
Although 'Evander Ward' is a mere 131 years old, the Merciful Van is well over 3000 years of age. Van was created by Loscin following the First Magic War of Abeon. At the time, there were only two other Merciful: Luna the Merciful General and Jubiniah the Eldest. His first mission, under the personage of an Arvenon named Lirin, Van destroyed the tyrannical uprising of a sect of Kor'non, set on destroying the royalty in the Western Tsondalian Kingdom. Van has approximately taken on six different forms, throughout the course of his rule as a Captain of the Merciful, alongside his peer, Simon.
THE RISE OF ELFERUN
Van's arguably most important deployment came in the early years of the Third Period, namely during the reign of Elferun Sireron. As major bloodshed began to spread across Battlewrath, Loscin resent his most mean-spirited warrior to the emerging Archian Empire as a guiding force. Under the persona of a humanoid merchant, Van slowly began to influence the Archian military descions, until the Second Tsondalian Invasion of 1761. In the defense of the four kingdoms, Van became named as a commander and led Elferun's armies into battle against the Arvenon. His identity as a merciful became known by the Archians and he was sent to Ceenar, where he was executed for magic use. The son of Elferun, Lambert V, later remarked "we killed the one who would've saved thousands during The Seventy Years War".
