Boogeyman of Seeblick

The Musk Lily were found dead at the Seeblick Reservoir. Their stems were cut clean off by a blade with no sign of a struggle. Additionally there appeared to be some for of necrosis or acidic damage to the wounds. Who is capable of doing this and why are they staying quiet?

Alexander?:
He hasn't been seen since the announcment of Magnus' death. He is well travelled, could be an experienced adventurer. Plus he carries a longsword.

the smugglers: Merida Gray and Bree use enhanced weaponry that seems to be capable of replicating the damage we found on the Musk lilies. Could they have done it?

Alexander Strum is an experienced paladin with a special blade resulting in the wounds we saw on the fungus. He is our boogeyman.
