Freedom City
Freedom City, once known as Freedonn after the revered prophet Freedonn Fadd, is a strategically important city within the Free State of Dungol. Located deep within the ancient Forest of Dungol, at the confluence of the Oderon and Yikle Rivers, the city's existence is primarily due to its advantageous position at this meeting point of waterways and the intersection of a vital road, the "Road to Freedom."
Infrastructure
Freedonn's location at the confluence of the Oderon and Yikle Rivers makes it a natural hub for trade and transportation. The rivers provide easy access to the heart of the forest and beyond, while the "Road to Freedom" connects Freedonn to Dungol City, the capital of the Free State of Dungol.
History
The city used to carry the name "Freedonn" named after the famed Freedonn Fadd, an old elven Prophet. But Danjel Jackson McNaird renamed the city "Freedom". For obvious reasons.
Points of interest
The Road to Freedom
The "Road to Freedom," a well-maintained path paved with smooth stones and interwoven with natural elements like roots and vines, connects Freedonn to Dungol City. This road is a vital artery for trade and travel between the two major elven settlements.
The Dun'Walis Sapling
On the Freedonn side of the River Oderon, a small, carefully tended garden houses a sapling of the Dun'Walis Tree. This young tree, a descendant of the sacred tree at the heart of Dungol City, is a symbol of hope and resilience for the Freedonnians.
Geography
Freedonn's character is deeply intertwined with the rivers that converge upon it. The Oderon, flowing from the south, is a relatively warm and clear river, supporting a variety of aquatic life and serving as a major trade route. To the north, the Yikle River flows down from the slopes of Mount Yikle, bringing with it colder, darker waters. The meeting of these two rivers creates a unique ecosystem and influences the local climate.
The River Oderon not only divides Freedonn geographically but also marks a distinct change in the surrounding forests. To the east and south of the Oderon, the Forest of Dungol is characterized by towering trees, dappled sunlight, and rich undergrowth. However, to the north, beyond the confluence of the Yikle, lies the Coldfeet Forest. This swampy woodland is a stark contrast, with darker waters, tangled vegetation, and a perpetually chill air that gives it its name. The colder waters of the Yikle influence the immediate area around the confluence, making that part of the Oderon noticeably colder as well.
