Sthekkas ab'Zennept (sθɛkʰɑs ɑbzɛnɛpt)
Lord General
A general of the Fifth Order of the Grand Army of Ptarshakkian Empire, Sthekkas was a noble-born scion of the port city of Zennept. During the build up to the Third Ptarshakkian-Qh'énnish War, he was selected by Field Marshall Biwas ab'Daenae for a specific task. General Sthekkas, was a Biwas-loyalist, and after the fall of the previous field marshall, Sthekkas was instrumental in Biwas' consolidation of power. His reward was to be tasked with a mission to the southern reaches of the empire. He was not going to join the war to west. He was affronted by the mission. Patrolling the edges of empire was nothing to him. A paltry insignificant effort that would be completed in mere weeks. His plan was to complete the pacification of Thōur region and expand the southern reaches of the empire in short order. Afterwards that he would then return to Zennept in glory, before leading his legion to western Llaohh and the greater glory of war on the Qh'énns. With this in mind, Lord Sthekkas ab'Zennept traveled with his legion to the environs of the southernmost Ptarshakkian city, Idakk, along the nearby west coast, and then on to the Ptajma outpost of Ukja am Adakk. Rebuffed by the Ptajma leaders, Sthekkas was prideful. He was incensed: pacifying the south meant nothing to him, his beloved leader was wasting his talents. He almost lost faith in Field Marshall Biwas; and afterwards, the knights posted at Ukja am Adakk dismissed him like he were nothing to them! Sthekkas' bruised ego required even greater glory to show the nation, the Five Orders of the Grand Amry of the Ptarshakkian Empire that he was the greatest asset. He redoubled his efforts. Not only would his legion patrol and pacify, it would construct a new outpost which would show up the arrogant Ptajma elites. Hundreds of his soldiers were not only bade to build the outpost, it would be done with great haste. He might dally for a month, perhaps two, but by then his outpost, which would bear his name of course, would be complete and on the coast, granting access to the sea of Chaalai (not unlike his home city of Zennept). It would bring greatness to the entire region. Thus is was that General Sthekkas commanded the building of a fort on the Chaalai —Ukja ab’Sthekkas it was called, lit. "Sthekkas' Keep"—and it would dominate the coastline. Whilst the majority of his forces toiled in the construction of the fort and patrolled, Sthekkas' glory would be further committed to another self-assigned mission. He made ready companies to travel to and conquer the Black Isles.
Pacify the southern regions? Nay: I shall dominate them. —Sthekkas ab'Zennept.Sthekkas had believed the trolls of the region and the Black Isles to be few and disorganized. In a sense he was correct, but that was only true in the neutral region between Suvata and Ptarshakk. Along the coast there were more, and they were watching. Troll soldiers—in an army called the Fist of the Black Isles—had already moved into the hills and caves of Idakk. Lord General Sthekkas, aping his revered field marshall, would lead from the front. He took the bulk of his troops in transports across the narrow strait towards the Black Isles, leaving a skeletal staff toiling at completing his keep. Troll scouts had alerted their leaders who were waiting for Sthekkas. Sthekkas' attack on the Isles was an abject failure and lead to the loss of hundreds of Ptarshakkian soldiers and the general himself. The trolls destroyed his flottila. Simultaneously, the keep he had built as a momument to his vanity—left with a fraction of his forces—was besieged and destroyed. Its remains serve as a monument to this failure and are also known as, "Sthekkas' Folly."
