Spyrys
Spyrys is a warlike city-state locked in the Antharan War against the nearby gnoll tribes of the Dead Peaks.
The current monarch, King Caswyn, is a young but well-learned king. He recognizes his lack of experience and is willing to lean on experts for help. He is beloved and trusted by his subjects.
The city is comprised of six districts (clockwise from west): Old Spyrys, New Spyrys, Kostys, Three Tears, Bluepetal, and The Ashen Quarter.
Guilds and Factions
The Dyad Guild takes up residence in the Three Tears district.
History
Spyrys sits in the shadow of the Dead Peaks, but it has not always been so close. Two thousand years ago, the city lay upon the western edge of the isle. A disastrous military failure had allowed gnolls to spill into the countryside and terrorize the rural citizens, and the distant Spyrysian king was unable to quickly respond and stop the flow of gnolls. After decades of slow forward motion and help from Kernow, the gnolls were pushed back into their rocky home. The king, determined to never allow gnolls to wreak such havok again, planned the unthinkable: stopper the Dead Peak's western valley with Spyrys itself. It took hundreds of years to complete the king's vision and, though he did not live to see its completion, his descendants followed his plan to fruition.
Natural Resources
The Antharan War primarily affects the eastern portion of the city, and a lesser effect on the farmers outside its walls. Thanks to decades of help from Spyrysian mages, rural Spyrysians have become the agricultural powerhouse of The Heartland. Its neighboring city-states of Hohme and Kernow each export more food than any other isle in Pendent, but neither can raise a finger to Spyrys.
