The pledge of office depends on which special duty they are appointed to.

Duties

Admonisher

The duties of the Admonisher are to warn or reprimand knights or court officials who are not adhering to the responsibilities of their poistion or are accused of corruption. The Admonisher has the authority to demote a knight on the spot if warranted. If required, use of force is authorized. The Admonisher is typically the mentor of the order, offering advice and guidance to knights who seek it - hopefully doing so before being required to see them.

Adjudicator

The duties of the Adjudicator are to act as the highest arbiter in Amana. They settle disputes or pass judgement on cases where the arbitration completed by lower offices is deemed unsatisfactory. The Adjudicator is also the only official who can arbitrate any dispute concerning the monarch of Amana.

Accouteror

The quartermaster and armorer of the Royal Armory. Some Accouterors have been known to forge or craft unique items for some knights, but it is not a necessary part of the position.

Abbot

The premier knight of faith for the Armory. They provide religious services for the knights. The position is nondenominational, though does not deprive the holder of their beliefs. For public service, they sometimes hold ceremonies or provide rites for the populace. The Abbot is the only special duty knight who has civilian subbordinates. They are also the knight who receives the most volunteer time from knights of the Armory.

Abjurer

The Abjurer seeks out corruption. The Abjurer is the last chance for any knight or Amani monarch who has been found treasonous. They are given the opportunity to abdicate or are executed.

Abater

The Abater is responsible for assisting knights with transitioning back to civilian life. This serves to help the Armory and the transitioning knights. For the knights, it provides insight and preparation for life outside of this service. For the Armory, it provides an up close threat analysis of anyone leaving this service.

Adiater

The adiater is a knight who acts as interim monarch if the monarch leaves power, for any reason, without a successor. Because of this, they shadow the monarch to keep up on current affairs in the event they need to take over.

Archivist

The Archivist is the head of the Library of the Royal Armory. The only special duty to whom a handful of squires and knights report directly. The Archivist is responsible for vetting the knights in their service and frequently enlists the support of the Adjudicator and the Admonisher when looking into the record of knights. The process is usually long and involves contacting many knights and even civilians who have had interactions with the knight in question.

History

When Amana unified under a single monarch, the Royal Armory was founded as a sort of check against corruption. It was comprised of soldiers from all three nations on Amana and combined to serve the people by protecting them from all threats except foreign armies. Their devotion to serving the people is how they managed to create righteous warriors of faith without requiring devotion to a single deity. Nepi is considered the patron deity of the Armory, but not necessarily the deity worshipped by all of the knights.
Each of the special duties hold significance to the Armory and the people of Amana. Knights who have a special duty are considered legendary. Meeting one is considered once in a lifetime. Having business with one is even more rare.

Cultural Significance

The Armory rarely has responsibilities that require them to travel. But those who do tend to be special duty knights. As representatives of the Armory abroad, people outside of Amana think of the Armory as efficient, dedicated, and powerful.
