History
When Cug was first turned into a god he felt very scared and alone. As all gods do he needed power and followers. While he had the admiration of rats he required more than that to stand on his own as a god.   In this first era of his god-hood, he tried to rapidly gain power failing dramatically. In an attempt to gain popularity amoungst an ancient city we flooded the city with rats that asisted the citizens with their daily cores. This lead to many worshiping Templeton as a appriecation of his good will. However as Templeton left the rats to their own will they began to eat their food and spread the Plague of Rattus that spread across a wide section of south Countillan. Many of the poorer class died to the plauge as it was only easily cured by a Greater Restoration spell, far to expensive for the average commoner. This divide creates a lot of animosity between the class divide and Templeton and the rats were blamed for the devistation. He was quickly hated and his worship was cut short cauing him to once again only rely on the admiration of the rats, many who were killed due to accusations of spreading disease.   After this failure, he almost fell into complete obscurity, but Cassandra took notice of the rat god. She quickly befriended Cug and got into a relationship. She offered power and in return obedience. This was around the time when Roux appeared and the god devourer was slain. Roux was almost slain as well but Cassandra, Shiri, Khabir, and Cug defended him.   After the group of friends was established Cug and Cassandra quickly got married. Cug was somewhat dragged along throughout all of this while being manipulated and trapped in a toxic relationship with Cassandra. At one point Khabir decided that the mortals should know about this god killer and confided in her friends. After they presented their case they were met with backlash from the other gods and in return they planned to rapidly seek power. All of their domains became much more dangerous and filled with suffering. This was excluding Cug who was still struggling with a toxic relationship and being trapped by gods of much higher status.   After eventually being stopped by Gorea and the Council of Humility, all of the gods were put on trial. There, Father Time recognized the abuse that Cug endured and only punished him to remain in only his domain and to lose all of the followers he'd accumulated.   After a few hundred years the cult was formed around Cug. The cult leader took advantage of Cug and lied to the people of the elven village. He was said to be the god of nature and needed humanoid sacrifice. Although gaining more followers Cug felt worse as he had lost control and guidance of his own followers. Eventually, the cult ended after the wooded village was burned to the ground.   Eventually, Father Time confronted his friend when the village was burned. He got Cug to get a divorce from Cassandra and focus on the rats and stay away from humanoids. After a few years, Cug was given a gift from Father Time, his favorite paladin.   After the events of Sands of Time Cug was turned into an immortal rat. He was given a home and taken care of by Eli and Ashe. Eventually after a few decades Cug was able to plead his case and was granted life as a humanoid living on Othealia. So he now lives as an unbothered Templeton until being taken by the mists of Barovia.     Notable Worshipers
