Summary
These foul hound-like beasts hunt human souls. Primary they hunt cursed soul fated to suffer in Mear'anouned. Dabbling in dark deeds or powers beyond the grasp of mortals draw their ire. There are tales of feral Vodek that devour the souls of innocents.
It said that once you have encountered a Vodek then they have your soul scent. Any escape is merely temporary relief from their perpetual pursuit. They have your trail and are never far behind.
Historical Basis
It is thought by the more skeptical scholars that Vodek hounds are excessive exaggerations of Reaper Imperium war hounds. They now serve as a warning against violating cultural taboos and as an explanation for animal attacks or disappearances.

Almost all Sanctified and most Wilders have heard stories of the Vodek Hounds.
In Literature
In the Tale of Eribur a hero is said to descend to Mear'anouned and retrieve a lost love but slays a Vodek hound on his way out. However a Vodek hound does not stay dead long. The hound eventually hunts him down and slays him.
