Reaper Imperium

The Neu̯nup Vouroutu /neu̯nup ˈʋou̯rou̯tu/ or Reaper Imperium are descendants of the original Reaper mutineers that fled Forlorn Hope. They revile any ancient tech and anything that reeks of automation. They value the blood and sweat of humanity. However this does not extend to any ideas of the equality of all humans. The lack of automation means all the dirty, dangerous and dull tasks fall to the under privileged sectors of society. The poor, the enslaved and the foreign all find themselves enduring the tasks that the rest of society would rather forget exists.
Various tribes of humanity have been subdued by the Reaper Imperium. The distant tribes that are too logistically demanding are allowed some degree of independence. They function as vassal states and are left unmolested as long as the tribute and troops flow as expected.

Structure

The reapers Imperium is ruled from their capital of Ulthana by the high emperor and his cadre of senators. The decrees of these men are absolute. However local lords and reaves are permitted to deal with the minutiae of life within their districts as long as the tribute and levies flow.

Public Agenda

bring freedom to all humanity. Especially to those subjugated by the ancient AI's.

Demography and Population

The Reaper Imperium has strict social classes. The Imperium divides their people into citizens (möy̯rstys), or others (Taanjin). The citizens are further divided into upper class and lower class depending on wealth. The other social class is comprised of laborers, slaves, and foreigners.

Möy̯rstys /ˈmøy̯rstys/

The upper class or Pie̯nstys /pie̯ŋstys/ are comprised of wealthy citizens. Inclusion in this group is determined simply by one's financial status. 'Old money' Pienstys consider themselves superior to newer members due to their long family history of being Pienstys. New money Pienstys are far outnumbered by the old money. Both are renowned for this extravagent lifestyle. The vast majority of it is involved in enjoying recreation. They have paid Lyonstys to look after their investments and properties. Any Pienstys that get involved in business affairs does so out of personal interest.   The lowerclass or Lyö̯nstys /lyø̯nstys/ are citizens that are unable to afford many of the excesses of the Pienstys. However they are far from impoverished. Most Lyö̯nstys spends their day managing properties and investments either of their own or for a Pienstys patron. All Lyö̯nstys own at least a small parcel of land and a humble staff to look after the menial affairs of life. If a Lyö̯nstys mismanages their finances badly enough to be unable to meet the expense associated with being a landowner then their risk losing their Möy̯rstys or citizenship status.

Taanjin

The Laborer or taanheup /tɑːnˈheup/ are the largest social class in the Reaper Imperium. They are either children of Taanheup or impovershed Lyö̯nstys that lost citizen status. They lack an education and are unable to afford land. What wages they earn are used to sustain basic necessities. Taanheup are commonly seen working jobs where they interact with the clients. A thrifty or fortunate Taanheup can save enough wages to enjoy modest luxuries, or in extremely rare cases purchase citizenship access. In cases of financial misfortune Taanhuep may sell their family in slavery to meet basic needs, or in truly desperate times sell themselves into slavery.   The imperium is built on the backs of Slaves or Taannuttoi̯ /tɑːnnuˈtːoi̯/. The Taannuttoi are unfortunate souls that are either descendants of Tannuttoi or impovershed Taanheup. To become Taanuttoi is a life sentence. In rare cases a Taanuttoi can purchase thier freedom, but with no way to earn money it's a practial impossibliity. Instead they spend thier lives toiling at the harsh manual labor that keeps the Imperium rising.   On the outskirts of the Imperium there are the foreigners or Taandäy̯ /tɑːndæy̯/. These are the many tribes that have been subjugated by the Imperium. While Taandäy̯ are not slaves they have very little rights. Most Reaper cities do not permit Taandäy̯ to sully their streets. However Taandäy̯ levies are the only noncitizens permitted full military service.

Territories

The Imperium's land claims are vast. Sekdahn's Spine markers their western border along Desemshia where they are lock in conflict with Utopia Pacification Forces. The Northern tundras mark where Reaper lands fade into Cha'reh territory. Their eastern border is the great desert of the Karaki. Their only south border is the great sea.

Religion

The Peetoyntely Doikshiil /ˈpeːtøy̯ntːely døi̯kshiːl/ is the state religion of the Reapers. Outsiders refer to it merely as the cult of Humanity. It abhors automation and The Eyes. They revere the brave sös /søs/ mutineers who stood against The Eyes's lies and oppression. The Cult controls much of Reaper society as many high arch priests are also city governors or province lords.

Foreign Relations

The Reapers are xenophobic and distrustful of foreigners or Däy̯äy̯s /ˈdæy̯æy̯s/. They seem them are either barbarians or corrupted servants of The Eyes.

Agriculture & Industry

The Imperiums hatred of automation has not prevented them from making efforts into early industrialization. However this distrust of machines means their factories are fueled by slave and low wage labor. The dirty and unsafe conditions are largely ignored by reapers that enjoy the luxury goods they churn out.

Education

Reaper Citizens attend mandatory schooling until they reach adulthood. During this schooling they live on specialized campuses that teach them a wide variety of subjects as well as prepare them for military service.   At graduation every Imperium citizen serves a mandatory term in the military. Once they have served their required three years each citizen can choose to remain in the military or return to civilian life. If they return to civilian life any education required for the chosen career on the job.

Infrastructure

Reaper Imperial cities have extensive underground passages. Some of these serve as sewer systems to expel the population's human waste. This waste is taken to be processed before being used to water and fertilize the vast croplands that surround most Reaper cities.   Larger towns and cities in the Imperium have a parallel systems of roads. There is the surface toll road system that is enjoy by citizens, and a service corridor network beneath it. All slaves and employees traverse the city using this hidden network to not bother the citizens with their unsightly concerns. In smaller towns Imperium citizens travel within shrouded palanquins or carts.
