Glenmorra

"Beware the waters of Glenmorra. What haunts those fens is not the souls of the dead and the damned, but your own sorrow and regrets. The things that stride the mist are phantoms of lost loves and unforgiven debts.
— Sirbenet Proverb
The Elysium Elves of Iskandar refer to Glenmorra as the Well of Sorrow; A name drawn from the strange hauntings that afflict the land. Those who venture into the swamps often come face to face with their own regrets, specters of loved ones lost or far more insidious visitations. These ghosts and wights are often murderous caricatures of those they embody, and their intent to destroy the living or drive mortals to despair and madness is tangible.   Glenmorra is also host to other, far more concrete threats. The swamp itself is festering boil of plague, its waters home to bloatflies and bloodbite-mosquitoes. Fearsome predators lair its sunken hollows, and among the marsh are rumored to be small settlements of gruesome Swamp Giants. Most dangerous of all, however, are the caretakers of the swamp.

The Eye of Sibyls

The caretakers of Glenmorra are a coven of Night Hags known as The Eye of Sibyls. These loathsome creatures are well known for devouring children in the neighboring regions and supplanting them with their own dark daughters until they come of age. While they are truly monstrous beings, they do hold a code of conduct which can be somewhat relied upon by those desperate enough to seek their aid in matters of prophecy. The Sibyls will not parely with any man who walks their fen, nor any woman who has married. Often they will trade in barters of flesh, pound for pound, such as locks of hair for omens and of course meals of promised children for their divinations of the future or greater magic.
The Sibyls are an ancient order, predating the rise of Iskandar and even the fall of the heaven-dragon. They are rumored to be appointed by the Baba Yaga and the coven of Glenmorra are only one insidious branch of a much larger council of elder witches in the realms of Orr.

Geography

The fetid swamps of Glenmorra are a treacherous and haunted domain brimming with hungering mist, the raking claws of sentient trees, and cold cauldrons of blood-suckling leeches. Spread across over a hundred miles of lowlands in the shadow of the basalt mountain of Ogun Zarkx, Glenmorra is a fen that few have explored thoroughly. Its waters support many groves and copses of strong cypress, and its banks are rich with earthen clays, but whatever resource might tempt industry are not enough to ignore the harrowing specters and nightmares that dwell among its darkened gloom.

Deck of Many Things

Of all the mysteries and powers belonging to the Eye of Sibyls, none are more sought after (and feared) than the legendary Decks of Cruel Fortune. These strange assortments of cards are capable of bending reality, snuffing out lives, and producing effects whose far-reaching consequences are known only to the witches that guard them. How such decks are created or where they draw their power from are secrets the denizens of Orr may never know.
