A certain castable magical effect. Each spell belongs to one or more Circles of magic and usually requires Mana. The mana spent on the initial cast of a spell can be any mix of general mana and elemental mana. Some spells are renewable spells, which means their duration can be extended or their effect reset using mana. Spells that do not require mana are called cantrips. Bespoke spells, which are not part of an established Circle, exist but are very difficult to research and cast.
