Silver Saber

The Silver Saber was a pirate galley captained by Zelene Silvers.

Description

The Silver Saber was a two-masted galley, made in the Obsidian style. As a pirate ship, she often sailed with a large compliment of crew – anywhere between 150 and 300, most of whom were boarders. In addition to her large boarding parties, her primary offensive weapon was her small catapult, located on the forecastle. This was used to hurl casks of alchemist's fire at vessels to incapacitate them.
She was recognizable by the emblem flown on her sails – a silver saber on crimson.

History

By 56 2A, Zelene attained the Silver Saber's captaincy.
In Athson 67, while transporting a sizable portion of the blue dragon's hoard, the Zah Potency and her escort fell under attack by the Silver Saber. The Saber quickly incapacitated the escort with a few casks of alchemist's fire before the pirate galley closed to board. After a long and bloody fight, the Zah Potency and all her treasure was taken.
Flush with their winnings, Silvers and her crew retired to the nearby Qoza, where they ran the ship aground on the harbor island. For the next two weeks, they would fritter away much of the dragon's treasure on drink, food and pleasurable company. Shortly thereafter, she was hired by the Menagerie to escort them south to their contract in Vhakizla.

Inhabitants

The Silver Saber has counted many hundreds of pirates among her crew over the years. Below listed are several of the notables:

• Zelene Silvers (female human): The Saber's captain, Zelene Silvers fights and commands hard. Her appetites are enormous, for both pleasure and plunder. Nonetheless, she is a shrewd leader and always keeps her crew's best interest at heart.
• Mad Andros (male human): A disgraced alchemist acquired in Kyziel, Mad Andros brews the crew's alchemist's fire. He is also a skilled brewer of alcohols but has occasionally been know to add dashes of dangerous substances to them.
• Khiaos of Tolosh (male human): A naturalist who inadvertently joined the crew as a physician, Khiaos is more concerned with beetles and bulettes that he is with battle or booty. He has a small book collection that he is immensely careful with.

Campaigns

The Menagerie

• Vhakizla: When searching for a means to reach Vhakizla in time to comply with their new contract, the Menagerie hired Captain Zelene Silvers and the Silver Saber to ferry them to the Heartvein River. Upon arriving, however, they discovered the rivermouth blockaded by two Pious vessels. (Chapter 2) After defeating their captain in a duel to first blood, the mercenaries persuaded the pirates to help them break the blockade. During the battle, the Saber was instrumental, lobbing alchemist's fire at the Pious Strength and boarding the Pious Wisdom. (Chapter 3)
